Ms. DeMerris Ann Biggins-Daniels

Ms. DeMerris Anne Biggins-Daniels went home to be with her heavenly father on November 3, 2015. She was born April 25, 1955 in Saginaw, MI the daughter of Helen Biggins-Ross and James S. Daniels, Sr. He preceded her in death. DeMerris accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in the Saginaw River under the leadership of Pastor E.W. Bouthel of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She later joined Bethel A.M.E. Church under the leadership of Rev. Harold C. Huggins. She was a graduate of Buena Vista High School Class of 1973. She attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI, and later graduated from United Airlines Flight Attendant School where she was employed as a flight attendant until her retirement. DeMerris enjoyed traveling, entertaining, cooking, helping seniors and children. DeMerris was not a period, because this isn’t the end of life and she is not an asterisk, because there is much more to her than a foot note, a comma signifies a series, a continuation, she is a comma because there is so much to her life. She was not about one thing. Keep the legacy going in love. DeMerris was a people person who was loved by everyone and an inspiration and blessing to many. Her memory will be cherished by her daughter and son, Kelsey and Kaleb Lewis; mother, Helen-Biggins-Ross; one brother, Micah (Cherryl) Biggins; two sisters, Phyllis (Calvin) Little, Sherra Jayne Biggins; one uncle, Grady (Maria) Ross; four aunts, Mary Holman, Louise Spurlock, Mattie Adams and Eunice (Leroy) Dean; godsister, Ouida Johnson; godchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, her Southside Family and her village of special friends in Washington State, Saginaw, Oregon, Florida, Texas, Illinois and California. Ms. Biggins-Daniels was also preceded in death by her grandmothers, Marrie Walker and L.B. Daniels; and her grandfathers, Gordon Ross and Willie Walker, Sr.; a sister, Shirley Hardaway; three aunts, Mary Ellen Jackson, Geri Simmons, and Marion Connor; three uncles, Curtis and Willie Walker and Rueben Daniels; step-father, Wardrick Biggins and step-brother, Edward Atkins. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Judge Terry Clark, Carolyn Clayton, Gloria “GiGi” Ford, Carol Shivers and Alicia Ann Nelson for all the time and sacrifices they made to help the family. Also a special thank you to her Hospice Nurses Marina and Jenny as well as all the doctors at M.D. Anderson Cancer Clinic in Houston, Texas that took excellent care of DeMerris. A special thanks to all the friends that traveled from different states to come be with DeMerris. We thank you for your visits, calls, text messages, food and prayers. A special thank you to Pastor P. David Saunders and Elder Delano Bowman. Memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 535 Cathay Street. Pastor P. David Saunders will officiate.
