Deacon Frank Johnson, Sr.

November 10, 1927 - April 15, 2021

Deacon Frank Johnson, Sr. went from labor to reward with his loving family surrounding him on Thursday April 15, 2021 at the age of 93 years. He was born November 10, 1927 to Kent Johnson and Mary Jane (Dubley) Johnson. On January 20, 1947 Frank married the love of his life Willie V. Thornton. Deacon Johnson was the 13th of 14 siblings. He retired from General Motors Grey Iron Foundry after 34 years of service. He was a member of UAW Local 699. He was an avid fisher and hunter. He enjoyed watching TV game shows and spending time with family. Frank was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Deacon Johnson loved attending church. He was a member of Word of Faith International Ministries, under the leadership of Dr. Byron & Minister Chestermae Hayes, where he served as a Deacon. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Frank Johnson, Jr., Michael Johnson, Diane Johnson, Gerry Johnson, Victor (Miriam) Johnson and Phyllis Martin all of Saginaw, Michigan; grandchildren, Lakesha Grimmett, DeMarcus Stuckey, ShaRhonda Johnson, Kendrell (RaShad) Davis, Shavonda Frazier, Bruce Taylor Jr., Shaquinda Haymond, Shamar Hardwick and Ronald Farmer; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one sister-in-law, Bessie Queen Jones; a close friend, William Batts; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Willie V. Johnson; his parents, Kent Johnson and Mary Jane Johnson; mother-in-law Corrine Irvin; brothers, George, Jab, Lewis, Richard, Milton, Woodrow and Dolph Johnson; sisters, Lillie, Lee, Eva and Lovie Johnson and Eula Mae Washington and son-in-law, Michael A. Johnson. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Word of Faith International Ministries, 500 North Washington, Saginaw, Michigan 48607. Dr. Byron C. Hayes will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Visitation will take place Monday, from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m., April 26, 2021 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607.
