Freddie W. Simpson, Jr.

A loving, precious, good man, father, grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin, brother, godfather, and friend, Freddie Simpson, Jr., passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center-Cooper surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 4, 1948 in Saginaw, MI. Freddie honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was employed with the Freeland School District for more than 30 years before retiring. While in retirement, he enjoyed traveling, listening to music, reading, debating, joking, watching the NFL (Detroit Lions) and NBA (Chicago Bulls). Freddie successfully matriculated Saginaw High School (1968 graduate), Delta College (Associates in Arts, April 1975) and was just a few credits shy of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Michigan State University. Freddie leaves behind to forever celebrate his life and cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Mrs. Louise Simpson, whom he married October 4, 1978. In addition, he leaves four sons, Iansan Fernate Simpson of Saginaw, MI, DuBois Goliath (Brandi) Simpson of Houston, Texas, Michael W. Simpson of Saginaw, MI, and Freddie Simpson III of Saginaw, MI; one daughter, Diamond (Derek) Prothro of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Michelle Simpson of Saginaw, MI, Elaine Simpson of Saginaw, MI and Joslyn (Micki) Steward of San Francisco, CA; uncle, Lonnie (Diana) Simpson; aunts, Christina (Frederick) Jones and Eima Jones; Goddaughter, Lalanya (Mario) Harris of Houston, TX; lifelong friends, Ralph (Lynette) Ford of Houston, TX, Jeffery Bates of Saginaw, MI, Morris (Betty) Lewis of Toledo, OH and John (Phyllis) Falls of Saginaw, MI; and many other relatives and friends. Freddie was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Faye Simpson; father, Freddie Wilson; grandmother, Viola Butler; grandfather, John Butler; aunts, Margaret Simpson Shirley and Saint Mary Ramsey; uncle, Jack Simpson; and dear friend, Thomas Leonard Davis. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave. Bishop Zachary Williamson will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 p.m.
