Mr. Gilbert "Gilly" Anderson

December 28, 1957 - June 11, 2022

Mr. Gilbert “Gilly” Brian Anderson was born December 28, 1957 in Saginaw, Michigan. He passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the age of 64 years surrounded by family. He was born the son of John W. Anderson and Nadine Ward-Anderson. Gilly was a proud graduate, earning his high school diploma from Saginaw High School ”Go Trojans” in 1976. Shortly after he turned 18, he gained employment with Saginaw Steering Gear Plant #2, Div. of General Motors Corp. where he worked until his retirement. He had a love for his family, fashion, and cars (mostly his Cadillacs). He loved being with his kids and grandchildren and watching them play sports and coach. He hardly ever missed a game. Gilly was a faithful member of Holy Temple Full Gospel Church under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Zachary Williamson. He will forever be remembered for his big smile that would light up any room. Gilly leaves to cherish his memory, his first born son, Darius Frierson; daughter, Ashley Frierson; youngest son, Blake (Andrea) Anderson and daughter, Shalanda Ellison; his grandchildren, Jayda Amerion, Trey, Amari’a, Carter Maceo, Janyla, Izzy and Jordan; siblings, Valerie (Edwin-RIP) Hill, Kenneth (Barbara) Ward, Belinda McCray and Alethea “Dutches” Anderson; aunts, Marie Crocket and Joyce Garrett; uncle, Birt Fields; a host of nieces and nephews; great-nephews; great-nieces, including Destiny; extended family, Gray, Fields, Murray and Garretts; many special cousins including Alvin, Lesa, Linda, Correy and Torey; many dear friends, including Earl Chapman and Mike Patrick. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his father, John W. Anderson; mother, Nadine Ward-Anderson; sisters, Phyllis McKinney and Benita Anderson; brothers, Ralph Barney and Wendell Ward; grandparents, Timothy and Pauline Murray, and Maceo and Kate Anderson; dear friend, Eugene Springer. Family Hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at New Birth Missionary Baptist Cathedral, 3121 Sheridan Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48601 with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Bishop Larry Camel, Host Pastor and Pastor Bishop Zachary Williamson will officiate. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM until the time of service.
