Mr. Gregory "Billy" Anderson

Gregory McKint Anderson, a.k.a.“Billy,” was a caring and faithful son, brother, friend and a child of God. His spirit transitioned to heaven on June 25, 2022, at the age of 66. Gregory was born on May 20, 1956 in Panola, Alabama to the Jim Pope and Ms. Willie B. Anderson, who he greatly adored. His family later moved to Michigan where he lived much of his childhood and adult life. Upon graduating from Saginaw High School, he primarily worked for General Motors (GM). After dedicating more than 20 years to GM as a laborer, he retired. For nearly 27 years, he shared his heart and life with his loving companion, Debra Braden. He was a member of Midland Church of the Brethren in Midland, Michigan where Nathan Polzin is the pastor. Gregory found joy in watching sports and connecting with family and friends (multiple times a day, in some cases!). His witty sense of humor filled many conversations with laughter and inspired countless smiles. He believed strongly in kindness and showed his heartfelt generosity through gifts, support, and food. To many, Gregory shone as a bright spot in their day, especially with his playful greeting, “how are you doing, young lady (or young man)?” whether they were 8 or 80! Gregory will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Willie B. Anderson; brother, Thaddeous Anderson; sister, Dr. Bernadette Anderson; special friend, Debra Braden; maternal aunts Ethel (Bobbie, deceased) Shaw and Mima (John) Batiste; maternal uncle O C (Elise) Anderson; nephew, Jeremy Clark; host of great nephews, great-grandnephews, and great-grandnieces; many cousins including ElGreco (Valerie) Shaw, Wynita McClaine, and Sharon Anderson; buddy, Leon Wilson; friends, Pastor Art Smith and Dan (Carolyn) Braden; in-home barber, Christina TenEyck; other close relatives and friends. They all loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Pope; grandparents, Dudley Pope and Bessie Edwards, Pete and Marthan Anderson. “Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one the chain will link again.” ~ Ron Tranmer Funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum, 5950 Gratiot Rd. Saginaw, MI 48603. Pastor Charlene Washington will officiate. Entombment will take place in Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum, 5950 Gratiot Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603.
