Handsome Frazier, was born to the proud parents of Reverend Collins and Carrie (Summers) Frazier in Utica, Mississippi on November 14, 1942. He passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021 at the age of 79 years. He was baptized at the age of 11 in Sharkey County, MS at St. Michael Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. Joseph Williams. He was a graduate of Henry Weathers High School in Rolling Fork, MS, and later relocated to Michigan in 1963 to gain employment at General Motors Corporation. Reverend Frazier became a member of Christ Community Church for many years and accepted his call to the ministry in 1965. He later served at Zion Valley Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Johnny Rincher. Rev. Frazier was a mechanic and enjoyed fixing cars, singing and barbecuing. He enjoyed his profession as a semi-truck driver and meeting people all across the United States. He loved spending time with his family and had a special love for his grandchildren, and great-grands. He was a Bible Study Instructor, a Sunday school teacher, worked with the Laymen Dept., attended barber school, studied at American Baptist Theological Seminary, and worked with the Non-pastors Association. He was a member of the male chorus at the church as well as the Citywide Male Chorus and served as choir director. Rev. Frazier was a great musician playing the guitar for the Gospel Harmoneers, Sons of Heaven, The Gospel Soul Savers and other quartet groups throughout the country. He leaves to cherish many loving and fond memories with his wife, Ethel Lee Frazier; four children, Rockielle, Sr., Kevius, Aquisha and Handsome Frazier, Jr.; grandchildren, DeShay Dottery, Takaira Babcock, Ariana Frazier, Sierra Plettenberg, Angel-Lynn, Gabrielle, Rockielle, Jr., Kentavis and Vandell Frazier-Martin, Destiny, Catasha, Chance and Boston Frazier; great- grandchildren, Kyrie and Zamirah Babcock; he also leaves to cherish many memories with children, Mary (Curtis) Boston, Handsome, Willie, Johnny (Deleasha) Frazier and Eric Frazier, many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Evangelist Claudia Davis, New Orleans, LA, Ernestine Lewis, Alterine Frazier and Evangelist Martha Sherman, all of Saginaw, MI and Lela Frazier, of Atlanta, GA and Annie Montgomery, of Vicksburg, MS; brother, Charles Buckner, Cary, MS. Reverend Hansome Frazier was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Collins (Carrie E. Summers) Frazier; seven brothers and one sister. The family would like to express special thanks to nieces, Yolanda and Cherina Frazier and sister-in-law, Ella Bryant. Thanks to everybody who rendered service to Rev. Frazier during his illness. Especially to his sisters, Evangelists, Martha Sherman and Claudia Davis, the Frazier family and Minister’s Association across the U.S.A. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607. Pastor Otis Washington will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
