Mrs. Hessie Mae Price

Mamma had two favorite sayings, “Nothing is Too Hard for Jesus” and “May the Work I’ve Done, Speak for Me” On Wednesday, January 27, 2021 our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend began her journey to heaven at the age of 89 years. She was born October 4, 1931 in Holly Bluff, Mississippi. Hessie married Cornelius Price on November 7, 1948. To this union God blessed them with three beautiful girls who will always cherish her memory, Dorothy Price Omar, Ethel Price ( Imam Robert) Shaheed and Linda Price Brown all of Saginaw, MI. Hessie retired from Covenant Medical Center Harrison after 25 years of loyal, dedicated service. She attended Good Shepard Church of God in Christ for many years. Hessie enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, traveling, crocheting, knitting and she especially loved her flower and vegetable gardens. Hessie was very artistic. She decorated graduation boxes for all of her grandchildren. The grandchildren would wait anxiously for their beautiful Easter baskets at Easter time. Christmas was always special at Granny’s house. Mamma loved us all, she never judged anyone. Mamma was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Dorothy Louise Antwine, Stephanie Omar, Stacey Price, Adrian Shaheed, Albert Omar, Jr., Latasha Shaheed, Zarinah Curry, Ivy Franklin, Na’im Shaheed, Nathan Omar, Pastor Tariq Price. Earl Omar, preceded her in death. 40 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ollie Oliver, Chevy Chase, MD; one brother-in-law, Marion Price, Memphis, TN, other relatives and friends, including Annie and Walter Haynes. Mrs. Price was preceded in death by her husband, Minister Cornelius Price; grandson, Earl Cornelius Omar; mother, Helena Hawkins; father, Nathaniel Hawkins; sisters, Johnnie Ruth Jackson, Bessie McNeil, Rosie Lee Pilgrim, Mozella Hawkins, and Velma Edwards; brother, Nathaniel Hawkins, Jr. and a son-in-law, Albert Omar, Sr. Funeral service will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021 at New Birth Missionary Baptist Cathedral, 3121 Sheridan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601, Bishop Larry D. Camel, Host Pastor. Elder D.J. Price will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery 3210 S. Washington Ave, Saginaw, MI 48601.
