Mr. James Otis Washington

Mr. James Otis Washington went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the University of Michigan Hospital at the age of 63 years. He was born February 1, 1952 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the son of Curly and Betty Washington. James attended Saginaw Public School and went on to work for General Motors for several years; however, he found his passion with the railroad where he worked for twenty-eight years. He loved life to the fullness, also he loved to laugh and make other laugh. James was an avid bowler and a talented keyboard player, where he was a member of a band for several years. He loved spending time with his family and friends. James also loved to go shopping for clothes and had an eye for coordinating clothing everything had to match. Mr. James Otis Washington leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Linda Washington; two daughters, Lisa Collier of Saginaw, MI and Sharice Hooker of Cleveland, OH; three sons, Monte (Elizabeth) Collier, Damien Trice and Deonte Dexter, all of Saginaw, MI; five step-children, Ebony Stuckey of Grand Rapids, MI, Elisha Stuckey, Carem Stuckey, Latrina Carter, all of Saginaw, MI and Danielle Carter of Los Angeles, CA; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Gwendolyn Collier, Michelle (Wayne) Amos, Cathy Stewart and Joann (James) Banks; three brothers, Larry (Beth) Williams, Don (Odessa) Steward and Gregory (Alma) Steward; mother-in-law, Ida Stuckey; sister-in-law, Maxine (Willie) Jenkins; brother-in-law, Morris Stuckey and Austin (Frances) Stuckey, all of Saginaw, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends who were like brothers, Robert Gage, Billy Nelson and John Burke. Mr. Washington was preceded in death by his parents, Curly and Betty Washington; adoptive parents, Clementine and Horace Major, Jr.; grandparents, William and Rachael Archibald; four sisters, Nellie B. McNair, Rosie Williams, Sandra Stewart and Debra Stewart and brother, Charlies Steward III. The family would like to express special thanks to Linda Suggs, Lorna Burke, Mary Woods, Kimberly McNair, Doctors and staff at University of Michigan Health Services CICU. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 1210 N. 8th St. Rev. Rufus Bradley will officiate, with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Monday from 2-8 p.m.
