Mr. Jimmie Payne Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. Jimmie Payne, Jr. was born February 20, 1930 in Covington, Tennessee to Jimmie Payne, Sr. and Ruth Watkins. He passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at the age of 90 years. Jimmie was employed by the Grey Iron Plant, Power Train Div. General Motors Corp. for 50 years and was a member of UAW Local 668. He never missed a day of work. He was a longtime dedicated member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a trustee, and sang in the Male and Gospel Chorus. Mr. Payne leaves to cherish many memories his wife, Lorraine “Polly” Payne, Saginaw, MI; daughters, Margaret Singleton, Phenix City, AL, Princetta Payne, Raeford, NC, Machelle (Roosevelt) Daniels, Freda Wilson, Ingrid Robinson (Robert Barnett) and Tomika Philips; grandchildren, Tracy, Chebon, Catherine, Charlene, Angela, Tyjvanna, Charles and Genovia; a host of great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Mavis Taylor; cousins, John Smith, Toledo OH and Sonny Smith, Covington, TN; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Wade and Geraldine Swift and many other sisters and brothers-in-law; other relatives and friends including a special friend, John Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Payne, Sr. and Ruth Watkins; a daughter, Gwendolyn Walls; two sons, Thomas and Sylvester Payne; a granddaughter, Dahana Payne. The family would like to express special thanks to Montreyus Walker, Ingrid Robinson, Robert Barnett, Tomika Phillips and TaeShawn Mathis, the hospice nurses, many others that have shown concern during our most heartfelt time. Visitation will take place from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. A private funeral service will be held. Pastor Rodrick A. Smith will officiate with interment in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, 7275 E. Holland Rd., Saginaw, MI 48601.
