On November 5, 1949 Joann was born to the parents of Joe Gordon and Dorothy (Moore) Gordon in Vardaman, Mississippi. At the age of 71, Joann Michelle (Gordon) Ezell passed away on September 9, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Joann and her family relocated to Saginaw, Michigan in 1953. She attended, Martha Long Street Elementary, Central Junior High and Saginaw High School. She continued to pursue her education at Davenport University, Delta College, Northwood University, and Central Michigan University earning many degrees and certificates. Joann had a passion to learn and to teach others. As of December 2020, Joann celebrated 23 years of sobriety and was coming up to her 24th year. She was an Activity Director at the Unity Club, and a sponsor to many. Joann was well known and actively involved in the Saginaw Community. She was always finding resources to help others in need. In her spare time Joann loved to run her own business R & J Clothing Line, read, listen to music, dancing, putting events together, finding a meeting, taking photos, meeting new friends and talking for hours on the phone to family and friends. She especially enjoyed talking with her granddaughter, Victoria who kept her up on the latest trends. To cherish memories, Joann leaves her husband, Ronnie Ezell; her son, Samuel (Angela) Williams of Pittsburgh, PA; two stepchildren, Jamail Peoples and Sharece Richardson both of Saginaw, MI; five grandchildren, Danyl Settles, Victoria Williams, Quinterria, Monte and Marcus Jones and one great-grandson Jai Jones all of whom she loved dearly. She also leaves to cherish memories, five brothers, James, Larry (Ada) and David Gordon, Lee (DeeDee) Wallace and Carl Gordon; three sisters, Betty Haywood, Renail Gordon and Diane Tyler all of Saginaw; one special aunt, Ruthel Wilson; two godchildren, John Clark, Saginaw and Kishi Wesby, Atlanta, GA; special friends to name a few, Carroll Beverly, Wilmer Ham-McZee, Janice Sayers, Janice Staples, Jacqueline Jacocks, Tausha Richards and the members of the Unity Club. She also had a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, too many to name but she loved dearly. Mrs. Gordan-Ezell joined the heavenly gardens with her mother, Dorothy Gordon; father, Joe Gordon; grandparents, Joe and Lula Mae Gordon; brothers, Joe Milton, Charles and Kim Gordon; sisters, Roberta Harrison and Sandra Holliday; two nieces, Princess Elann Scott and Chelsea Phillips; one nephew, Dennis Parker; one great-nephew, Johnson Laster, Jr., godmother, Lilly Evans; mother-in-law, Mary Alice Gates; step-father-in-law, Peter James Gates; father-in-law, Detroit Ezell; and brothers-in-law, Rev. Jimmie Harrison and Jermain Gates. The family would like to express special thanks to Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home, Ames United Methodist Church, Wilmer Ham-McZee, Tracey Scott, Carroll Beverly and the Unity Club. We appreciate all the kind words of expression, concern and heartfelt sympathy during our time of bereavement. May God bless each and every one of you. A Memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Ames United Methodist Church, 801 State Street, Saginaw, Michigan 48602. Pastor David Wichert, Host Pastor and Pastor Ernest Reed will officiate. Interment has taken place in Homewood Cemetery, 1599 South Dallas Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15217.
