Mr. John Henry Broadnax Jr.

Mr. John Henry Broadnax, Jr. entered into enteral rest on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the age of 94 years. He was born May 10, 1923 in Camden, Arkansas, the son of John H. and Elizabeth (Thompson) Broadnax, Sr. Mr. John resides in Saginaw, MI after moving from Muskegon, MI. He was employed at General Motors Grey Iron Foundry and retired in 1978. John joined the United States Army in 1944 and received an Honorable Discharge after serving in WWII. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member at Bethel AME Church. John served on the Usher Board until his health started to fail him. He truly loved and enjoyed his family, all his grandchildren and playing Domino. John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. John leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Clara Jean Pittman; two special grandsons, Darrell (Carrie) Wilson of Traverse City, MI and Alden (Katie) Payne; grandchildren, Jay, Allison and Darleen Broadnax, all of Oakland, CA; granddaughter-in-law, Wendy Christian of Saginaw, MI; god-daughter, Letha F. Adams of Saginaw, MI; god-son, Nelson Shannon of Atlanta, GA; three sisters, Emily Billingsley of Camden, AR, Doris Broadnax of Sacramento, CA and Bettie (Earl) Broadnax-Riley; two brothers, Ernest Broadnax of Camden, AR and Samuel Broadnax of Sacramento, CA; sister-in-law, Mary Green, Camden, AR; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friend, Lena Malone; a host of other friends including, Odie Carruth, Della Means and Aaron Mitchell, all of Saginaw, MI and the late Charlie Tolden. Mr. Broadnax was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Mae Green-Broadnax; daughter, Alma Wilson; son, Joey D. Broadnax; grandson, Eric Christian; parents, John H. and Elizabeth Broadnax, Sr.; brothers, James, Truman and Willie; sister, Annie Mae Broadnax; brothers & sisters-in-law, Otis (Minnie) Green, Nathan (Lillian), Hershel (Jean) Green, Ernest Green and Helen (Selwin) Avery; a host of other in-laws and other relatives. Family hour will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 19, 2017 at Bethel A.M.E. Church 535 Cathay Street with funeral service commencing at 12:00 p.m. Pastor P. David Saunders will officiate with interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI. Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
