Ms. Katrina R. Washington

November 26, 1961 - March 10, 2022

Our beloved mother, Katrina “Goldie” Renay Washington gained her wings and flew to Heaven on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the age of 60 years old. Katrina was born on November 26, 1961 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Shirley Ann (Andrews) and Carl Washington, Sr. At a young age, Katrina was a tough cookie. She made sure her younger brothers knew she was the boss. She loved her family and her friends. Katrina was funny, outspoken, had a beautiful spirit, lived life to the fullest and on her own terms. Katrina sincerely loved her two daughters. She had many hobbies which included drawing, roller skating, singing and dancing. Katrina leaves many to cherish her memory including: Dimesha Handley and Lakeisha Moultrie, both of Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, Angel Moultrie and Dylan Handley; sister, Michelle (Kenneth) Rose of Grayling, MI; brothers, Carl (Gail) Washington, Jr. of Raleigh, NC, Marcus Washington, New Haven, IN and Terry Washington, Las Vegas. NV; aunts, Jeanette Tinsley, New Haven, IN, Leotha Murphy, Bay City, MI and Violet Bland, Fort Wayne, IN; god-daughter, Aretha Taylor; special cousin/sister, Sharalee Jones-Hammond; special cousins, Kay Brown-Tinsley, Vanessa Scott and Percy Butterfield; special nieces and nephews, Kristin (Antoine) Johnson, Jalynn (Xavier) Hopkins, Sharrie Handley, Marie Handley, Martel Handley, Teona Washington, Precious (Wesley) Harris, Diamond (James) Mims and LaShawn Johnson; mother-in-love, Burnell Handley; father of her children, Demetrius Handley; other relatives including best friend, Elaine Taylor. Katrina was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Ann and Carl Washington, Sr.; grandparents, Mary Belle and John T. Andrews; aunt, Cleotha (James) Tinsley; favorite aunt, Phyllis Andrews; uncles, Raymond (Claudia) Andrews, Curtis Bland and Ernest Murphy.
