Professor Lamar Reed Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan Mr. Lamar Reed was born March 17, 1950 in Saginaw, Michigan to the parents of Otis and Malonia Reed. He passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2021 in Jackson, Mississippi at the age of 71 years. Lamar began his early education in the Saginaw Public School System and graduated as a “Proud Trojan” , Saginaw High School Class of 1968. He furthered his knowledge while attending Delta College, continued his studies and became a graduate of Jackson State University, Jackson, Mississippi. He resided in Jackson, Mississippi and became a professor at his Alma Mater until his health failed. Mr. Reed leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Nia Reed and one son, Ramal Reed; four grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn (James) Strum, Loretta and Sylvia Reed; one brother, Terry (Janice) Reed, Sr.; one aunt, Mellie Dean Simmons, Detroit, MI; many nieces, nephews and cousins; a host of other relatives and friends including special cousin/brother Gerald “Jerry” Kariem. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Malonia Reed; two brothers, Jasper Mincy and James “Jimmy” Reed. The family would like to express special thanks to the friends and staff of Jackson State University. Service has taken place in Jackson, Mississippi..
