Elder M. C. Baskin Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. M.C. “Pops” Baskin was born in Union Springs, Alabama coming to Saginaw Michigan in 1966. He passed away on July 21, 2022 at the age of 82 years. Elder Baskin worked at Central Foundry Division General Motors Corp. for 25 years and retired on March 1, 1993. He was a member of UAW Local 455. MC and Katherine were joined in Holy Matrimony, she preceded him in death. He gave his life to Christ at an early age. Pops was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Temple faithfully serving as deacon and later became an Elder. He loved the Lord. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his family and the fellas on Fairfax, helping his neighbors by giving them rides and helping anyway he could. Elder Baskin leaves to cherish his memory, Barbara (Theodore Woods) Saginaw, Timothy (Tiara) Baskin, Thomas Baskin and Miccii Washington, all of Saginaw, Anna Pearl Hatchett, Delaware, PA and Celestia and Judith Faye Johnson; 15 grandchildren, Donta Woods, Lance and Crystal Cope, Jamellah Woods, Chandonae Baskin, Timothy Baskin, Jr., Meyara Parker, Shavonna and Shaquille Baskin, Thomas Baskin Jr., Michael Young, Jr., Janelle Payton (Thomas), TaMaya, Terri’A and TaRaeha Baskin; 14 great-grandchildren; parents, George, Sr. and Susanna (McCune) Baskin; two sisters, Mattie Pearl Baskin and Marjie Baskin Ivey; two brothers, George Baskin, Jr and James Baskin; three special nieces, Susie Baskin “Lee”, Jeff Anna and Georgie Mae Baskin; one nephew, Richard L. Baskin; a sister-in-law, Margaret Baskin, New York; many other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by three children, Elijah Mims, Terry Baskin and Mary Cope; one grandson, Demarco Baskin; sisters, Mattie “Pearl” Baskin and Marjie “Ivey” Baskin and brothers, James and George Baskin. The family extends special thanks to Dr. Issa of Saginaw who provided excellent care throughout the years to our father and Dr. Reddy of Bay City, MI. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2022 at Bethlehem Temple of the Apostolic Faith, 3521 Webber Street, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Elder Curtis Johnson will officiate. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
