Mr. Marvin Earl Castell affectionately known as “Nunnie”, began his earthly journey in life on September 16, 1953 in Louisville, Mississippi, the son of George and Gladys (Waldrip) Castell. On Friday, September 3, 2021 Marvin gained his eternal wings and entered the kingdom of Heaven at the age of 67 years. Marvin became a longtime resident of Saginaw, Michigan after his family relocated when he was a toddler. He attended Saginaw Public Schools and was a graduate of Arthur Hill Technical High School. Marvin was a sharp dresser who had a special flair for fashion. He enjoyed shopping and creating some very distinctive looks. Always a comedian and a philosopher, Marvin could talk about anything and would often find a positive note to leave you laughing hysterically. He was definitely the life of the party while enjoying time spent with friends and family. He had an infectious smile that would light up a room. Gone but never forgotten, his presence, smile and laughter will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. His spirit will forever live in our hearts. Marvin leaves to cherish his memory four sons, Michael Flemon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Deleon Wells of Shreveport, Louisiana, Marvin Castelle of Los Angeles, California, and Lawrence Robinson of Saginaw, Michigan; three daughters, Desiree Griffen of Columbia, Missouri, Dorothy Shlon Wells of Dallas, Texas and Sheena Robinson of Lansing, Michigan; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; six sisters, Maggie L. Castell and Marilyn (Sam) Morrow both of Snellville, Georgia, Shirley Castell of Norcross, Georgia, Yolanda (DeRonnie) Turner of Bloomfield, Michigan, Jeannie (Jerry) Morris of Saginaw, Michigan and Angeline West of Oakland, California; three brothers, Charles (LaKeshia) Castell of Saginaw, Michigan, Gregory Castell and Adeben (Donna) Castile both of Atlanta, Georgia; three aunts, Lorraine Cooper of Detroit, Michigan, Nettie Green of Chicago, Illinois and Alice (Amadu) Jalloh of Rock Island, Illinois; his special nieces whom he loved dearly, Shanelle, LaShon, Latrice, Tierra, StarKeshia and Gina Castell, Alexis Turner, Dwandra (Mario) Williams, Georgia Moten, Asanah Castile, Samauri Ware, LaTasha Mitchum and Rasheeda West-Johnson; special nephews, Paul Donald, DeAndre Mounger, Austin Castile, Devario, Dominique, Darius, Reginald, Charles Jr., Noel, Gregory Jr. and Craig Castell, Ernest Moten-Castell and Brent Crittendon Jr.; his two little buddies with whom he shared a very special bond, Mar-Mar and Chase; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Evelyn Garrett and Clinton Austin. Awaiting Marvin in Heaven are his parents, George and Gladys Castell, grandparents, Christine and Otis Reed Sr., Lee Earl Waldrip and Georgia Jones, two sisters, Georgia A. and Deborah A. Castell, one brother, Larry R. Castell, one aunt, Betty Hall and one uncle, Willie Castell. The family of Marvin E. Castell “Nunnie” wishes to express sincere thanks to the staff of Evans-Browne Funeral Home and everyone who offered kind words and loving condolences.
