Mrs. Mary Alice Baker

January 21, 1938 - November 25, 2021

Mrs. Mary Alice (Pinson) Baker was born January 21, 1938 to Clarence Sr. and Mabel (Simpson) Pinson. She transitioned and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at the age of 83 years. Mary Alice Baker, known to many as “Mother Baker” was a lifelong resident of Saginaw, Michigan, she was a graduate of Saginaw High School, a cosmetologist in her younger years, as well as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years, working in various hospitals in the Saginaw area. Mother Baker married Henry Baker, Sr. in January 1967. He preceded her in death in 2007 after 40 years of marriage. Mother Baker was the biological mother to four children, and a mother figure to many, many more throughout the years. Mother Baker was a member of several churches throughout the city, serving in various roles and positions throughout the years. Center of Attraction Outreach under the leadership of Apostle James and Prophetess Leona Glenn, is the last church she attended and was an active member of.  Mother Baker was a giver, she would literally give you the clothes off her back and the shoes off her feet. She loved to read the word of GOD, share her wisdom with others and help when and wherever needed and she enjoyed listening to Jimmy Swaggart. Mother Baker was an excellent cook and she loved to bake. Mother Baker loved her grand and great-grandchildren, there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them, she was just a phone call away. Mother Alice Baker will be missed and cherished by many, she leaves three children, Henry Baker II, Lisa (Frederick) Knighten and Stacy Baker, all of Saginaw, MI; a special niece, Cheryl Falls, Saginaw; eight grandchildren, Stephon and Quincy Taylor, both of Killeen, TX, Henry Baker III, Memphis, TN, Dallayce Knighten, Chicago, IL, Ravin Knighten, Killeen, TX, Kevin Baker, Los Angeles, CA and Kira and Joseph Sanders II, Saginaw, MI; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends, including special friend, Pastor Mary Lucas. Other than her loving husband Henry Baker, Sr., Mother Baker was preceded in death her daughter, Denise Green; granddaughter, Landryce Knighten; parents, Clarence, Sr. and Mable Pinson; two sisters, Dorothy Pinson and Annie Thomas; one brother, Clarence Pinson II, many other relatives and friends. The family will be present on Monday, December 6, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. for those who wish to share any encouraging memories or thought of Mother Baker during this time.
