On November 19, 1936, Queen Mother Mary Lee Green was born in Greenville, Mississippi to the parents of Mitchell and Alberta Goodwine. They both preceded her in death. She passed away December 26, 2020 at the age of 84 years. Queen Mary attended the Mississippi Public School District until she met her husband, Leo Johnson. He also preceded her in death. After marriage, they later moved to Saginaw, Michigan settling down where Queen Mary and her sister Martha began their agricultural journey. In that business, they taught their children how to harvest fresh produce, time management, great work ethics and how to efficiently be productive in the work field. In the 1960’s she gave her life to Christ and joined Coleman Temple Church of God In Christ. This is where she raised her children to love the Lord. She developed a passion for cooking and became the head cook specializing in her home cooked fried children, peach cobbler, and mouthwatering corn bread. She enjoyed serving as an Usher and a Pastor’s Aide alongside her sister, Mother Martha Miller. She also preceded her in death. As a powerful prayer warrior who served on the Mothers’ Board, the Christian Women Counsel and the President of the Anniversary Committee. She touched many lives with her presence. Being saved and having fun was made easy for Queen Mary and it showed through her beautiful smile, great sense of humor and awesome personality. With the overflowing of love and compassion she obtained, Queen Mary became a foster mother for 15 years to several children. Through that journey they guided, nurtured, protected and led them to Christ not judging the position they were left in just giving them her best. Queen Mother Mary loved her family, some have passed and some still lives, a beloved sister, Rosie Almond; her brothers, David, Mitchell and Daniel Goodwine; her children, Martha Ann Johnson, Melvin Lee Johnson, Sr.,(2014) Rhonda Johnson, Melvin L. Johnson, Jr. ( Melody, Mariah and Maranda), Myrkimshea (Breyuna and Xavier) Maire Diane Hatter (Steven Hatter, Jr, (Travonte, Shania and Ste’von), Maurice D. Hatter (Miles, Mya and Malayah), Myesha D. Mott (Jeremiah) Michael Anthony Johnson, Sr. (Mary) (Demetria (Demarquaveus, Laylah and Jaylen) Oscar, Michael A. Johnson, Jr. (Dayna) My’Anna, Michael and Miguel) Anthony M. Johnson (Nyla) Marshall Johnson (1992), Dammess Patillo (Ah’Ariah) Antoine Green (Jada), Donald Green (Shakera) (Reodis and Brandon) and Timothy Green (Jada) Donald Green (Shakera) Reodis and Timothy Green). She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and neighbors. You all are greatly appreciated for the kind words and support throughout this journey. The family wishes to send a special thanks to Pastor Earnest Reed and the Greater Solid Rock Baptist Church family, Pastor Hurley J. Coleman, Jr. and the World Outreach Campus Family for all their love and support as well. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2021, at Greater Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 605 Meade Street, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Rev. Ernest Reed, Pastor and Pastor Hurley J. Coleman, Jr. will officiate with interment Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Thursday, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
