Mrs. Opal Anderson

October 2, 1944 - March 14, 2022

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Opal Anderson was born on October 2, 1944 in Brownsville, Tennessee the daughter of James Otis and Tebetha Taylor. She went home to be with the Lord on March 14, 2022 at the age of 77 years. Mrs. Anderson was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan and a member of World Outreach Campus (Coleman Temple C.O.G.I.C.) where she served on many committees including the Usher Board, Women Mission and sang in the Church Choir. She loved her church and enjoyed volunteering at the church and, the Civitan Center. . She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending time with family; she was known to have a “green thumb” and took exceptional care of her plants and flowers. She was employed as a U.S. Postal Worker until her retirement. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons and two daughters, James Darren (Margo) Anderson and Tongala (Daryle) Darley both of Saginaw, Timothy (Karen) Anderson, and Tiffeni Anderson both of Indiana; grandchildren, Shaquonda (Patrick), Latisha, Bre’A, Kyle (Sunny), Richard II, Tanisha, Ronald III, and Kory (Megan); 20 great-grandkids; stepmother, Elizabeth Taylor; mother-in-law, Geraldine Anderson; six sisters, Earline Willis, Marene Thomas, Betty (John) O’Neal, Bobbie (Walter) Lewis, Kathey (Lawrence) Flagg and Rebecca (Horace) Hill; step-sister, Mary Beasley; four brothers, Willie (Rebecca) Taylor, James Otis (Dorothy) Taylor II, Leon Perkins and Ronnie Taylor; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including special friends, Curits Moore, Sis. Hattie Ray, Sis. Henrietta and sister-in-law, JoAnn Anderson. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Anderson; parents, James Otis Taylor and Tebetha Perkins; son, Derrick Dampher; grandson, Richard Young, Jr.; sister, Carlis Jackson; brothers, David and Terry Perkins and her grandparents, James Otis Taylor, Sr. and Hestoria Taylor. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at World Outreach Campus, 2405 Bay Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48602. Pastor Hurley J. Coleman, Jr. will officiate. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
