April 12, 1982 - September 18, 2020
Otis Olander Washington II was born April 12, 1982 in Torrance, California to the proud parents of Pastors Otis and Charlene Washington. He left for Heaven on Friday, September 18, 2020 at the age of 38 years. We will miss him. Otis was gentle, kind, and a man of faith. Growing up at Holy Communion Gospel Center, Otis served as a drummer, mentor and he ministered in song. He was called by God to teach The Word of God, simply, yet profound; transforming the lives of the hearers. Otis was never ashamed to pray and call on The Name of The Lord. He was loved and respected by many, revered as a Son of Saginaw. Otis played football from Middle School through college. He started Varsity Football Freshman year at Saginaw High School. Saginaw High’s football coach could argue that Otis may have been amongst the most talented group of athletes ever to play on a single team in Saginaw football history and arguably, Michigan high school history. The team took its place among the greatest in Saginaw history then they were inducted into the Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame (M Live article). Otis attributed these accomplishments to their honoring God, having one vision, unity and following leadership. He loved and respected Coach Durrent as a father. He graduated from Vanderbilt University, where he played football, and mentored as well. Otis’ gift and love for music and song, stirred his creative ability. From their home studio, Otis and Dee produced Worship Music for the soul as well as Gospel Rap; always with a story to make you think and convert. His love for God, all family, and the human race, brought him before many great people. Otis was nonjudgmental, wanting everyone to have a fair chance to grow, and develop into the life God promised. He loved his wife, Denishreion and their two daughter’s Taylor Hannah and Savannah Brielle (Berries), he leaves them to cherish his memory; he also leaves his mother, Pastor Elizabeth Charlene Washington; parents in love, Cathy and “Pop” Dave Williams and Leon and Angelia Cotton; his siblings, Krystal Walton, Los Angeles, CA, Rickey (Ulanda) Fields, Brandi Washington, Dawnika (Ellison) Benson; a very special cousin like a sister, Ashley Butler, Nashville, TN; nieces, Aerial Fields and Ellie Benson; nephew, Devin Walton; uncles, Andy Southern, Harold (Debra) Southern, Huntsville, AL, Maurice (Geraldine) Southern and Melton (Patricia) Southern; aunts, Birler Southern, Essie Smith and Corine Hightower, both of California and Christine Washington, Stone Mountain, GA. He leaves to carry on in faith, his cousins, who were like brothers, Emmanuel (Arleayera) Southern and Joshua (Alicia) Southern; many cousins, friends and extended family whom he loved. He leaves to celebrate his love to all family, Christian Teachers, friends, mentors, teachers, counselors, and His Nationwide Team. Otis was preceded in death by his dad, Apostle Otis O. Washington, Sr.; grandparents, Andy and Lucy Southern, George and Bertha Washington. **The service will be held outside in the parking lot, please wear a MASK and remember to social distance yourself 6ft.** Funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Holy Communion Gospel Center, 1245 East Genesee Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601.
