Mrs. Pearl L. "Bigmama" Dorsey

June 25, 1923 - February 4, 2022

Our dearly beloved Mrs. Pearl Leo (Moultrie) Dorsey departed on February 4, 2022 at the blessed age of 98 years. Mrs. Dorsey, affectionately known as “Big Mama”, was born on June 25, 1923 in Union Springs, Alabama to the late George and Fannie (Marlow) Moultrie. She was the youngest of 11 children. Mrs. Dorsey resided in Saginaw, MI most of her life and was a member of Spiritual Israel Church where she served faithfully as the “Mother of the Church”. She was a loving, kind, sharing Woman who was loved by everyone. She loved reading her Bible, sewing, playing her piano, listening to music, and she also loved gardening. She was truly a Virtuous Woman. She leaves to cherish precious memories, two daughters, Mildred (Ruben) Henderson and Betty Thompkins, Saginaw, MI; three stepchildren, Robert Lee, Edward Jr and Curtis Dorsey; eight grandchildren, Rev. Ruben, Jr., Terrance and Eric Henderson, Cherryl Biggins, William Washington, Paige Parks, Yvette Essex, and Andreanna Smith; 42 great-grandchildren; 41 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Pastor Roy Manning; sisters-in-law, Berniece Dorsey, Beatrice Manning, Lela Faulk, Maggie Faulk and Arthero Reed; godsons, Elder Joe Grace, Woodrow Campbell and Stuart Schweigert; a host of nieces and nephews including special nieces, May Woods, Ingrid McDowell, Johnetta Tyler and Doris Blackmon Taerbaum; special nephews, Al Moultrie, Oren Blackmon, and George Moultrie, Jr; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Rev. Mother Josephine Deals and Yolanda Smith. Mrs. Dorsey was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Edward Dorsey; parents, George and Fannie Moultrie; seven sisters, Ina Mae, Earnestine, Jeffina, Mattild, Myrtle, Elizabeth, and Rhodie; three brothers, George, Briggs and Joseph; granddaughter, Andrea Sumpter; great-granddaughter, Tiana Madison and a godson, Wandimu Mershen. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Spiritual Israel Church, 120 South 5th Street, Saginaw, Michigan 48607. Elder Joseph Grace will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington, Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Friday, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
