Mr. Randle L. Lewis Sr.

February 20, 1933 - January 27, 2021

Randle L. Lewis, Sr. was born in 1933 in Evergreen, Louisiana to Phillip Lewis and Berneice Hudson, but was raised by his uncle Andrew and aunt, Malinda. He had one sibling who is deceased, Wilma Jean. He passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the age of 87 years. He was a man of many accomplishments. He received a degree in Elementary Education from Grambling University. He served in the Korean War where his M.O.S. was infantry. After serving and receiving an Honorable Discharge, he married Ella Dobison and they were together for 64 years. He moved to Saginaw, Michigan seeking employment. His wife Ella following soon after with their oldest child Patricia, and then came Randle, Jr., Milton, Andrew and Helen. Mr. Lewis wore many hats. He worked for 31 years at GMC and retired. He was a security guard, worked as a construction worker, and sold insurance just to name a few. But his real love was gardening. God blessed him with a green thumb and everything he touched flourished. He was a member at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the usher board. He will be remembered for his generous heart, work ethics, and love for providing and taking care of his family. His last words were, “I LOVE YOU ALL”, and then peacefully closed his eyes. Funeral service will take place Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607. Pastor Otis Washington will officiate with interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan 48442. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
