Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Reacie Mae Haynie gained her heavenly wings on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the age of 92 years. She was born July 27, 1929, in Bluff City, Arkansas on a farm, to Liege and Annie Gulley. She married Henry Haynie July 5, 1951, and they moved in the early 50’s to Rockford, Illinois, and later to Michigan in 1953. She was a hard worker and always believed in working. Over the years, she has worked at a restaurant, fixed school lunches, a hospital, Saginaw Furniture, the cleaners and the plant. She retired from General Motors in 1987 and continued working as a homemaker and taking care of many of her family members. Reacie was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Institutional Baptist Church for over 60 years where she served in the Senior Choir, Heavenly Hands Ministry and Sunday School. She also enjoyed cooking and gardening. She believed the secret to her longevity and good health was working and serving the Lord. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her two sons, Andrew and Kennedy Haynie; three dear grandchildren, Shalanda Ellison, Gregory II and Simyra Haynie; three great-grandchildren, Israel and Jordan Smith and Christian VanHorn, all of Saginaw; a devoted daughter-in-law, Mary Lynn Haynie; one loving sister, Earlean Shepard of Saginaw, MI; one sister-in-law, Florence Buckley of Rockford, IL; many cousins, nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Teresa Martin of Saginaw, MI and Marlene Shepard of Ferndale, MI; special friends include, Lucy Wilson, Jimmy Lee Foster, Betty Johnson, Walzetta Bennett, Rose Mary Sanders and Jo Ann Davis. Reacie was preceded in death by her loving husband Henry; two sons Anthony and Gregory; her parents, Liege and Annie Gulley; two sisters and three brothers. The family wishes to thank Nurse Keishia Wilson, Chaplain Cory Hamilton, The Hospice Medical Team, and a special thanks to Develma Howard. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607. Dr. Marvin T. Smith will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
