Mr. Robert Hamilton

Sunrise – July 30, 1938 Sunset- September 1, 2019 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother peacefully went home to be with the Lord surrounded in love with his wife and family by his side on Sunday, September 1, 2019. Robert was born on July 30, 1938 in Hollandale, Mississippi to the late Ms. Georgia Washington and Richard Hamilton. After moving to Saginaw, Michigan, Robert became employed by Grey Iron Foundry G.M. and a member of UAW Local 668. He retired with over 30 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, doing lawn work, and he loved his cars. His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 56 years, Betty Hamilton; their six children, Spencer (Evelyn) Hamilton, Lois (Eldred) Washington, Saginaw, MI, Gwen (Joe) Wortham, Jackson, MS, Robbie (Terry) Harris, Lansing, MI, Perry (LaToya) Hamilton, and Jeffrey (Lashonda) Hamilton of Saginaw, MI; one brother, Jim (Shirley) Hamilton, Saginaw, MI; one sister-in-law, Lois Faniel, Bridgeport, MI; 15 beautiful grandchildren, Denzel Washington, Shaniqua Hamilton, Perrece Hamilton, Perry Hamilton II, Cory (Chirila) Hamilton, Jeffrey Hamilton, Jr., and My’Angel Hibbler of Saginaw, MI, Dominique (Tranisha) Washington, Southfield, MI, Taylor Harris and Terry Harris Jr., Lansing, MI, Cheryltoria Rogers, Detroit, MI, Maurice Stewart, of Baton Rouge, LA, Nicole Cork, Jalen Wortham of Jackson, MS, and Raquan Henix, of Lakeland, FL; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews including a very special niece, Sherrandra (Cherrondro) Faniel and the Smothers Family; one godson, Shon Faniel; life-long friends, John Walton and Bernard McCray. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia Washington and Richard Hamilton; two brothers, Robert Webster and James (Pie) Smothers; sister-in-law, Ruth Smothers; brother-in-law, Jim Faniel; two sisters, Bessie Holt and Louretha Marshall; brother-in-law, Jimmy Marshall; one grandson, Jerry Wayne Hamilton; one granddaughter, Tameka Smith; nephews, Daniel Smothers, Deleon Smothers and Richard Hamilton. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 810 Cathay Street, Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor Blake Strozier will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
