February 13, 1934 - November 18, 2021
Our beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, Rosevelt Jones gained his heavenly wings on Thursday, November 18, 2021, after a battle with a sudden illness. Rosevelt was born on February 13, 1934 the son of Sam and Carrie Jones in Philadelphia, Mississippi. He was 87. Rosevelt moved to Saginaw Michigan in 1957. He soon became employed at General Motors Powertrain, where he worked for 47 years only missing two days and retired in 2003. Rosevelt was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church for 60 years where he was deemed “Doorkeeper”. He was a very faithful and dedicated member to his church. Everyone that knew Rosevelt at church knew that he was not for games when it came to being in the House of the Lord. He would always keep all the kids in line. When Rosevelt pointed his finger, everyone knew to sit down and be quiet! He was coming because he was adamant about keeping order in church and the youth in line. Rosevelt will always be remembered by his church family for always carrying peppermints in his suit coat pocket and passing them out before service began. He absolutely loved his church family! Rosevelt loved golfing and was an avid sports fan. He watched Western shows all day, every day and loved traveling to Mississippi every summer and spending time with family. Rosevelt loved to joke, spend time with his grandchildren, friends and going to the high school basketball games to watch his favorites play. It was his favorite pastime. These things were very important to him, and some would say he loved them more than he loved himself. Rosevelt would give the shirt off his back to anyone. He was full of life and lived each day to the fullest. He will always be remembered for his HUGE heart, his contagious laugh, and funny personality. Rosevelt had a wonderful and full life and was loved by many! He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his four daughters, Gabrielle Jones of Saginaw, MI, Linda Harris of Southfield, MI, Deidreia (Andrew) Mair of San Felipe, NM and Angie Burris of MD; three sons, Michael (Meilani) Mcdonald of Seattle, WA, Ronnie (Sylvia) Payton of Riverside, GA, and Terrance Harris of OH; five step-children, Keturah Taylor of Saginaw, MI, Joseph Taylor of Grand Rapids MI, Eliyah (Cherie) Muhammad of Inglewood, CA, Khalif Muhammad of Saginaw, MI, and John Muhammad of Detroit, MI; five brothers, Gillis (Artermeedse) Jones of Buffalo, NY, Lester (Roberta) Jones of Oxon, MD, Larry (Ann) Jones of Saginaw, MI, Emmitt Jones of Saginaw, MI and Milton Jones of Kennesaw, GA; two sisters, Mildred Bailey of Burleson, TX and Carolyn (Wyvonne) Murray of Kennesaw, GA; two god-sisters, Mattie Johnson and Shirley Chatman, both of Saginaw, MI; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved dearly.
