Sandra Faye (Mounger) Tate, age 71 of Saginaw, Michigan passed away peacefully at her residence on February 6, 2022. Sandra was born on May 15, 1950, in Jackson, Mississippi to Nathaniel and Myrtle (Clotile) Mounger. After the family migrated to Michigan, she attended Saginaw Public Schools and was a proud member of Saginaw High Class of 1968. Sandra retired from General Motors and became an active member of her Buena Vista Township Community. She took great satisfaction in organizing talent shows, chartering bus trips for basketball games and coaching cheerleading and pompon teams and The Men’s Ol School Basketball League. She was a natural born comedian. She loved making her “famous” tacos, playing (teaching) card games, and aspired to become a gospel singer. She loved traveling and going to the casino. Her proudest attribute was her closeness with her family, and she was affectionately known as “The Fun Cousin.” Sandra found Christ at a young age and was a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully sang in the Mass Choir and served on the Kitchen Committee. Sandra is survived by her husband of 19 years, James Leroy Tate; two devoted daughters, Shasta (Marcellus) Mounger of Saginaw, Michigan and Sonandra (Vincent) Edwards of McDonough, GA; four stepchildren, Tatum, Kenya, Julian and Jamerson of Saginaw, MI; the apples of her eyes, her grandchildren, Semaj Mounger and Syair Young of McDonough, GA and Semariya (Quintarious) Parker of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her four (perfect in her eyes) great-grandchildren, Adonis, Zara, Kameron, and Kareem; her loving mother, Myrtle Clotile Mounger; siblings, Gloria Jean and Michelle Mounger of Detroit, MI, Pamela Richardson of Conyers, GA and Jerry Mounger of Saginaw, MI; her loving nieces, Tiffany Hall, Tamela (Shannon) Banner, Mikeisha Richardson, and Brittany Richardson; nephews, Demetrick and Tremaine Mounger; sisters-in-law, Mary Harrison, Minnie Godfrey, Daisey Branch and Gloria Tate; brothers-in-law, Jessie Tate and Cory Broadnax; godchildren “the twins”, Latoya Simmons and Tony (Markisha) Rivers; special cousins, Fredrick Mounger, Carolyn Mounger, Bobby Clark, and Willie “Moe” Haley; her Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church and Glimpse of Hope Church families and her Social Card Club family. She was preceded in death by her father, Nathaniel Mounger and a brother, Nathan Mounger. The family would like to thank, Pastor Blake Strozier, Pastor Leslie Lewis, Buena Vista Classes of 1991 and 1993, her many family members and friends for your tremendous love, prayers and support during our time of need. Memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Pastor Blake Strozier will officiate .
