"The Story of Sarah L. Payton, A Life Well Lived" Sarah Louise Patillo life’s journey begin on Friday, the 26th day of May in the year of 1944. She was the second child born to her parents Charles (Pluto) and Inez Patillo in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Sarah and her family relocated to Saginaw, Michigan when she 3 years old. Sarah attended Saginaw Public Schools and received her high school diploma from Saginaw High School class of 1963. Known by everyone as the lady that wears MSU colors "green and white"! She was employed with the Buena Vista School District where she spread her gift of love for children and people. Another passion of Sarah was her love for shopping, fashion, music and she was an avid Michigan State fan and supporter. Family and friends were very important to Sarah and she loved them all to the end of her earthly life. Sarah was joined in holy matrimony with her husband Jessie B Payton on July 7, 1962, they were married for 55 years. Sarah became a mother to two daughters Barbara L. Payton and Cheryl K. Payton which will cherish her zest for life. She became a babysitter and helped raise Thomas J. (Mia) Bell, Jr., her special son. She was blessed to become a grandmother and raised her only granddaughter Janelle Chimere’ (Anthony) Thomas of Chicago, IL. She received her gifts of two beloved grandsons Jessie Alexander and Jameal Christian Merrill both of Saginaw, MI. She also leaves to cherish her memory, brothers, Charles (Margaret) Patillo of Saginaw, MI, Edward Patillo, Daniel Patillo, of Portland, OR, Michael Green and Ben Griffin both of Saginaw, MI, sisters; Mary (Michael) Oglesby, Chery Patillo (James Gilyard) both of Saginaw, MI and Diane Green of Detroit, MI, sister-in-law Rachel Vaughn-Bey of Louisville, MS. She leaves a host of nephews, David, Ricky, Paul, Charles (Clifton), Dammess, Antwan, Robert Jay, DeMarkus, Shell, Taiwan and Tyran; nieces, Joyce, Tracey, Sophia, Sharonda, Natasha, Shavonne, Chery, Sheyene, Tre-shawn and Tyshia; many great nephews, nieces and cousins, special friends, Sarah Seals, Rev Edward & Mattie Jackson, Sandra Holmes, LaShawnya Sample-Grace, Linda Brown, Harmon Family and the entire 27th Street Family. She had two motto’s that she lived faithfully by “May the work I’ve done speak for me, when I am resting in my grave there is nothing that can be said, so may the work I’ve done speak for me”. “Give me my flowers while I live so I can enjoy them”. Sarah was preceded in death by both her parents, Charles & Inez Patillo; mother-in-law, Willie Mae Henderson; father-In-law, JD Payton; sister, Esie Patillo; and brother, David Patillo. "GO GREEN GO WHITE" Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue. Pastor Matthew Jackson of Refuge Temple of Flint, MI will officiate. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607 on Sunday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Family will be present from 3 until 6 p.m. to greet friends.
