Mrs. Tammy Cecelia Swafford-Hemingway

May 19, 1960 - January 24, 2022

On May 19, 1960, Thomas and Dorothy Swafford gave birth to their third blessing, Tammy Cecelia Swafford, in Saginaw, Michigan. Being the last and the youngest of the three, Tammy was raised with her great friend Karen, and grandma. Tammy grew up in Saginaw where she received all her early and young adult education. Tammy left Saginaw as a young adult to do what she loved, travel. Tammy moved to Miami, Florida for good when she met Howard Hemingway and the girls. They later married and became one. Although she served as a full-time parent to the girls, Tammy became very active in her Miami community. She worked full time as a front-end director of TPC Inc. for several years. She spent the last five years as an insurance consultant at OSC. Tammy was a part of the Elks Overseas Temple #745 of Homestead, Florida. She held the credentials of Past Daughter Ruler, Antler Guard Bobcat, Company E-William Maxwell Marching Unit, Pride Miami Counsel, and President of Zeta Amicae of Homestead, FL. Tammy also served as a faithful Christian under the leadership of Rev. Remiel Lockwood at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church of Perrine, Florida. She was also faithful in her ministry where she served as an Usher and Servant Leader of the Shepard Care Ministry. Tammy always did what she knew best and that was helping people. She served any and everyone. Tammy's service journey was cut short on the 24th day of January 2022, so that she could be welcomed into heaven by her sister, Emma; her father, Thomas; her brother, Rabbani; her uncle, Clifford; her husband Howard; and her nephew Jaden. Tammy leaves cherishing and Precious Memories with her mother, Dorothy Swafford; her daughters, Fantashia, Monique, Lakeisha, and Nashavia Hemingway, Tatiana and Quineshea Watson; one special daughter, Terasheika Terrell; grandkids, Daniel Danrayl, Maurice, Janyla, Ernest, Nakai'yah, Gabrielle, LeTonya and Nakaycia; nieces, Tina Jones and Asma; nephews, Edward, Gregory (Cassandra), Kerry and Rodney (Katella) Jones; two special nieces, Stephanie Hemingway-Ware (Jimmy) and Antaja Morris; special sister, Karen Betts; special friend, Terry Halloway; and a host of other great-nieces, great-nephews, friends and family. The funeral service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 16900 SW 100th Street, Miami, FL 33157.
