Abraham "Track Down" Dexter, Jr.

Mr. Abraham “Track Down” Dexter, Jr. passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the age of 86 years. He was born August 1, 1928 in Chattaroy, West Virginia to Donnie Johnson & Abraham Dexter. Mr. Dexter resided in Saginaw, MI. He retired from the General Motors-Grey Iron Foundry in 1987. He formerly attended Christ Fellowship Church and was a member of the Oasis Truck Club. Abraham enjoyed spending time with family and friends, along with playing cards, taking pleasure in his love of cars and the thrill of riding his moped. He was known as a well-dressed man with a signature trademark of a one-sided beard. His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 24 years, Ellen Dexter, Saginaw, MI; children, Sheria (Ervin) Foster, Saginaw, MI, Jerome (Vivian) Dexter, Syracuse, NY, Doris (Ernest) Young, Birmingham, AL, Wanda Faye Dexter, Trenton, NJ, Mary (Bennie) Ward, Saginaw, MI, Archie Baker, Cheryl (Anthony) Land, Carmella Lowe (Tyrrell), Eddie Blakes, Jr., Roshanda Blakes, Brenda (Lonnie) White, Theresa Baker, Albert Baker and Tangela Lowe; thirty-three grandchildren; special grandchildren, Deon-Te D., Nette W., Dequavis B., Deon-Te M., Jermaine A. and Pryce A. (Muffin); forty great-grandchildren; sisters, Annie LeSure, Arie Terry, Emma Dixon, Velma Smart, Velator (Matthew) Burrell, Minnie L. Rembert and Ossie Harris; brothers, Oscar (Ossie) Johnson, John B. (Evelyn) Johnson and Miller Johnson; sisters-in-law, Jackie Essex, Debra Templeton and Joslin Blakes; brother-in-law, Sam (Chelsea) Templeton, Ft. Wayne, IN; God-children, Breaisia Bulger and Alex Willis; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends too many to mention, including special friends, Mitchell Stanford, Ray Amos, Calvin McWright, Dorothy Clark, Marilyn Favorite and Pat Willis. Mr. Dexter was preceded in death by his parents, Donnie Johnson and Abraham Dexter; mother-in-law, Dorothea Blakes; son, Ray Ward; eight brothers and six sisters. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Wolverine State Baptist Headquarters, 615 South Jefferson Avenue. Pastor John Rincher will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Ave., on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
