Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 1111 North 29th Street. Rev. Willie Hill, Pastor. Pastor Ernest Reed will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Browne's Mortuary, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will be present at 6:00 p.m. for the family hour. Today in Heaven, angels shout, "Welcome, Alexander!" Surrounded by his loving and devoted wife, children, grandchildren, brother, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins, Alexander Williams departed this life on February 1, 2012 at the age of 49 years, following a short illness. On June 12, 1962, Al was born to Sam and Elizabeth Williams in Saginaw, MI. He confessed in Christ. He joined Greater Solid Rock Baptist Church under the direction of Pastor Ernest Reed. He was employed all of his life after graduating. He married the former Sonja G. Campbell on October 5, 2011, after 34 years of being together. He loved all of his friends and he was loved by many. You all were special to him. He loved sports, especially basketball (L.A. Lakers and Kobe Bryant) and football and fishing. Al had three daughters that he was devoted to, Neosha Layton of Saginaw, MI, Lakisha Bond of Rochester Hills, MI and Daddy’s little girl, Alexandria C. Williams of Saginaw, MI; five grandchildren, Alexus Ray of Saginaw, MI, Landon Taylor and Derreous Taylor of Rochester Hills, MI, Demetrius L. Stinson II, De’Meah L. Stinson of Saginaw, MI; brothers, Andrew Sam (Doretta) Williams of Saginaw, MI and Andrew Williams of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Martha (L.C.) Turner, Greta (Ricky) Riley, Constance (James) Chapman, Leatrice Wickes, Sherry Braxton, all of Saginaw, MI, Mary (Earl) Chapman of Lansing, MI; aunts, Loubertha Washington and Leonzy Porter of Saginaw, MI; two brothers-in-law, Arthur L. Campbell, Jr. and Louis V. Campbell, both of Saginaw, MI; a host of nieces, nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Sam Williams; mother, Elizabeth Williams; sister, Loubertha Williams; father-in-law, Arthur L. Campbell, Sr. and mother-in-law, Essma D. Campbell.
