Ms. Alice Marie Brown

Our beloved Alice Marie Brown passed away surrounded by family following a brief illness on Saturday, the 26th of July, 2025. She was 73 years. Marie was the first born to the loving parents of Willie Mae Ervin and James Ervin on February 19, 1952. She was a graduate of the Saginaw Public School System. Alice Marie married, and became the mother of Sha and Gary early in life. She set her heart and mind on raising her children. Marie was a beautiful spirit, and very kindhearted with a great sense of humor and was a member of Messiah Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and was known for her specialty; throwing down on hot water corn bread, it was requested at all gatherings. She liked fixing things around the house. She could be found sitting around the table talking, laughing and drinking coffee sharing time with her mom, her many aunts and other family members. Alice Marie leaves to cherish her memory one son, Gary Brown of Dallas, TX; “her Heart”, grandson, Dominique Desha Brown of Saginaw, MI; brothers, Willie “Sonny” (Anganetta) Ervin, and Eddie (Rhonda) Ervin, both of Saginaw; grandchildren, Cheyenne Brown and Unique Paige, both of Saginaw, MI, Angelicia Brantley and Damarious Brown both of Duluth, GA and Gary Brown, Jr. of Grand Rapids, MI; many great-grandchildren; an aunt, Dorothy (James) Donald; uncle, Rev. Otis (Bonn) Washington; nieces, Ayanna Ervin, Semaj Harvey who Marie called “Mo”; nephews, James Ervin and Sheron Ervin; a host of cousins including special cousins, Brenda Beckom and Linda Crowley, other relatives and friends including special friends, Onzzie Williams and Sharon Phillips. Ms. Alice Marie was preceded in death by her daughter, Ms. Lavagina “Sha” Brown; parents, Willie Mae (Ernest) Clayton and James Ervin; aunts and uncles, Florence Scott, Josephine Bradley, Pauline Luke, Gloria Calhoun, Bernice Donald, Rosie P. Neloms, Forestine Washington, Rev. Arthur Washington and John D. Washington and other relatives. Family Hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607, with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Otis Washington will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
