Mother Annie Kate Henley

On Tuesday, September 13, 2022 our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend took her heavenly flight following a brief illness at the age of 86 years. Mother Annie Henley was born December 30, 1935 in Brundidge, Alabama to the late Simon and Olivia Meadows Morris. Mother Henley moved to Saginaw at the age of seventeen where she met her life-long companion James Henley. They were married July 9, 1955 with a love that lasted 61 years until his demise in 2017. Her hobby was cooking. She was famous for her Sunday dinners which often included fried chicken (which everyone loved) collard greens, hot water corn bread and much more. Another hobby was baking her delicious pound cakes for anyone who asked. She would also send cakes to family members in other states. She was a resident of the City of Saginaw and a lifetime member of Church of God in Christ. She was a dedicated member for 53 years of Coleman Temple Church of God in Christ; now World Outreach Campus under the leadership of Pastor Hurley J. Coleman, Jr. and Lady Sandra Coleman. She served on the Pastor’s Aide, the Sharing and Caring Committee, the Celestial Choir, the CWC Mothers’ Board and was an avid Sunday School attendee. Mother Henley worked hard at many jobs to help provide for her family, retiring from General Motors in 1997. Mother Henley enjoyed spending time with her family. She truly exemplified the Proverbs 31; we did find a virtuous woman in Mother Henley. Mrs. Annie Kate Henley leaves one daughter, and three sons, Fredrick Henley (Janice), Roddie Henley (Charlotte), Robert Henley, all of Saginaw and Rev. Ora Bryant of California; a bonus daughter, Mary Ann Jones; grandchildren, Nikete Triplett, Fred Henley, Jr. (Wendy), Thomas (Angel) Henley, Terrance Pendleton, Caressa (Judge Marvel) Trice III, Steve Castillo, Roddie Henley, Jr., Omar Sangster, Davora Smith, Antony (Tina) Mayon, Nicole Mayon, Jennifer (Bobie) DuBose, Herbert White, Kimberley Porter, Scott (Christine) Gower, Lisa (Mark) Rollins and Brian (Christina) Henley; a host of great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janie Coston, Saginaw and Savanah Caffie, Brundidge, AL; one sister-in-law, Della Morris, Saginaw and a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Gracie Isaac, Pastor Hurley J. Coleman, Jr., Lady Sandra Coleman and the World Outreach Campus Family. Mrs. Annie Henley was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Olivia Morris; her husband, James Henley; two sons, Jerome Henley and Herbert White; two daughters, Easter and Helen White; one grandson, Dameon Baber; two sisters, Agnes Bond and Nora Fenn; three brothers, Willie Morris, Willie G. Morris and Kyser Morris. The family would like to express special thanks to Great Lakes Rehab Center Staff and a very special thanks to Lena Jennings for all the love, time and care given to our mom her Nanny. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2022 at World Outreach Campus, 2405 Bay Rd. Saginaw, Michigan 48602. Pastor Hurley J. Coleman, Jr. will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
