Arthur Foster,

Sunrise: January 25, 1928 Sunset: January 14, 2007 Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2007 at Truevine Missionary Baptist Church, 2930 Janes Street. Pastor Paul E. Broaddus will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Browne's Mortuary, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. On Sunday, Arthur Foster, Jr. made a peaceful journey to be present with the Lord, surrounded by his family, at the age of 78 years. The son of Volina (Marshall) and Arthur Foster, Sr. was born in Foster's, AL, where he received his early education at the Dry Creek School. He retired from the General Motors Malleable Iron Foundry and was a member of UAW Local 455. Mr. Foster was a faithful member of the Truevine Missionary Baptist Church for many years, starting under the leadership of Rev. R. B. Corley, Sr. and Pastor Paul E. Broaddus, both of whom he loved. His service to his church included being a member of the Usher Board, the Laymen, Pastor's Aide, Trustee Board, and a Sunday School teacher. Mr. Foster was a former President of the Marie Davis Senior Citizen Center. He leaves to cherish his memory eleven children, James Foster, Atlanta, GA, Alvin Foster, Merced, CA, Larry Foster, Riverview, GA, Delbra Foster, Saginaw, MI, Helen Lee, New York, NY, Rudell Foster, Ervin Foster, and Freddie Foster and Marchello Foster, all of Saginaw, MI, Lynn (Ronnie) Buck, Detroit, MI, Barbara Loft, Orlando, FL; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six siblings, Ruby Jennings, Detroit, MI, Calvin (Abbie) Foster, James Foster, Rudell (Eddie Lee) Upchurch, Columbus, OH, Franklin Foster, Annie Lavender and Pearl (Gilbert) Douglass; three godchildren, Lee Shepard, Darlene Davis Williams and Bettina Redeemer; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Volina and Arthur Foster, Sr.; sister, Clara Bell Shepard; three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of the Riverview Dialysis Center, St. Mary's Intensive Care Unit and the Heartland Hospice Nurses. We would also like to thank his neighbors, especially the one he nicknamed, "Country Girl". A special thanks to our brother, Frederick Foster, for taking care of our Daddy for many years.
