Mrs. Barbara Ann Nichols

Mrs. Barbara Jones Nichols departed this life on April 1, 2025 at the age of 75 years. She was born April 20, 1949 in Decherd, Tennessee to Mack and Bobbie (Kelly) Jones. Barbara was a graduate of Franklin County High School, Winchester, Tennessee. She was also a graduate of Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee. Barbara relocated to Saginaw, Michigan in the early 1970’s. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Gordon Nichols. Barbara was an educator in the Saginaw, Buena Vista and Bridgeport school districts for many years. She also taught computer classes for the UAW members and their spouses for all the GM Plants in Saginaw, Michigan. Barbara accepted Christ at an early age at Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church in Asia, Tennessee. Upon relocating to Michigan, she was a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend R.B. Austin. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her close-knit family. She always had something funny to say that kept them laughing. She loved playing bingo, playing cards, playing the lottery and going to the casino. She also loved watching sports. Her favorite teams were the Detroit Lions, Detroit Pistons and Detroit Tigers. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Gordon Nichols; brother, Sammie (Truthia) Jones; sisters-in-law, Charlene Jones and Louise Jones; special nephews and nieces, Reverend Wayne (Annie) Jones, Warren Jones, Billy (Patricia) Jones, Noland (Karen) Heath, Tyler (Marva) Jones, Dwight jones, Korye (Kisha) Jones, Bernard Adair, George Adair, Laura Jean Macklin, Linda (James) Allen, Cassandra Adagbonjin, Chondeleea (Vincent) Dugan, Chandra (Jonathan) Pope, Melanie (Anthony) Jones-Waller, Rose Adair, Samantha White; special great-niece, Kynadi Jones; god-daughter, Delana Farris; special friend, Delores Wilson and a host of other dear relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Bobbie (Kelly) Jones; paternal and maternal grandparents; brothers, Wilson (Billie) Jones, Edward (Delthienia) Jones, John Jones, Henderson (Sarah) Jones and Walter Jones; sisters, Willie Mae (Charlie) Thompson, Bessie (Preston) Heath, Lucinda (Slaughter) Taylor and Irene Jones; nephews and nieces, Melvin Obadiah Taylor, Johnny Jones, Samuel Carter III, Gregory Clark, Greg Cunningham, Alandya Taylor and Venita Jones; many aunts, uncles and cousins. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of Health Source, the staff of Covenant Hospital and Alonzo Betts and the staff of Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2025 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Pastor Ernest Wayne Jones will officiate. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
