Beulah Hardy

Hardy, Mrs. Beulah Saginaw, Michigan Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2005 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 3309 Bundy Street in Saginaw, MI, with the funeral commencing at 11:00 a.m. Rev. E. W. Bothuel will officiate with interment in Glendale Cemetery in Okemos, MI. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Arrangements entrusted to Browne's Mortuary, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI. Beulah Hardy, the daughter of the late V. S. and Jessie Murray was born Sunday, September 30, 1934 in Fitzhugh, Arkansas and was received into heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 19, 2005. Beulah, the second of 13 children, spent her childhood in Arkansas where she attended elementary and junior high school. She moved to Saginaw, MI with her Aunt Ruby Reed to further her education. In 1954 she married Edward Hardy of Abbeville, LA. Together they had eight children. She was a dedicated wife and mother who took pride in her family. In 1972 Beulah began her service at the Neighborhood House in Saginaw, MI. She volunteered for 11 years as the Neighborhood House Activities Director and also taught sewing and ceramic classes. In 1983 she was hired as a cook for the center's soup kitchen and she continued her work at the Neighborhood House until April of 2000. For her tireless work and dedication, Lutheran Social Service of Michigan presented her with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000. Beulah was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Saginaw, MI for 30 years where she served as church secretary and assisted in whatever capacity she was needed. She loved God and was a true example of Christ's love. In 2000, she moved to Lansing, MI where she has spent the last five years surrounded by family and loved ones. She often traveled to her hometown to visit her brothers and sisters and to see old friends. Her life was full of family, Sunday dinners, cooking, bingo, sewing, fishing and crossword puzzles that no one else could solve. Awaiting her in heaven are husband, Edward Hardy, Sr., her beloved mother and father, special aunt, Ruby Reed, three brothers, Jesse Murray, James Murray, and Alan Murray and two sisters, Ellen Murray and Betty Jean Ferguson and her two grandsons, Gabriel Emmanuel Hodge and Doris Earl Lovett Hardy (Tweet). Beulah leaves to celebrate her homegoing, her children, Edwina (James) Keyser, Battle Creek, MI, Avis Hardy and Amanda Burns, both of Lansing, MI, Karen (Ray) Ward, Edward (Keisha) Hardy, all of Saginaw, MI, Elaine Hardy, East Lansing, MI, Kyle (Daphne) Hardy of Saginaw, MI and Leathia (Timothy) Hodge, Okemos, MI; her dear aunt, Mabel Thompson of Newport, Ark.; seven brothers and sisters, Helen Winston, Augusta, Ark., Clementine (Finest) Brown, Searcy, Ark., Sharon (Robert) Wren, Long Beach, CA, Alex (Annell) Murray, Los Angeles, CA, Booker Murray and Larry (Jeanne) Murray all of Augusta, Ark. and Donald (Eunice) Murray, Searcy, Ark.; sister-in-law, Bernice Murray, Los Angeles, CA; four cherished children she shared with her sisters, Lora Marshall of Sugarland, Texas, Betty Jo and Kenneth Ferguson of Saginaw, MI and John Kevin Ferguson of Grand Rapids, MI; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; 30 grandchildren, who all felt as though they were grandma's only baby and 12 great-grandchildren who will share the wonderful legacy of love that she bequeathed.
