Mr. Billy Haley

Mr. Billy Ray Haley was born January 27, 1950 in Berry, Alabama. He was the son of Willie and Mary Haley. He became a resident of Saginaw, Michigan in the 70’s. Billy was a retiree of General Motors Corporation after 45 years of service working in the foundry including ten years in Defiance, Ohio. He was a believer in Christ to where he would take care of his fellow man. If you needed something he would help you, especially for family and friends. Billy loved to travel to Ohio and Alabama on a yearly basis until his legs and back were too weak to do so. His hobbies were spending time with family and friends, barbequing, watching westerns, sports, listening to the blues and keeping his car and wheels shinning. After a brief illness, Billy was called home to be with the Lord on December 7, 2023 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital at the age of 73 years. He leaves to cherish many memories his devoted wife of 50 years, Shirley Haley; son, Micheal Troy Craft; daughter, Tisa Haley; one granddaughter, Selena Haley Land; three grandsons, Tavaris Ware, Michael Craft and Anthony Ray Land; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Pipkins and Bobbie Haley both of Columbus, OH; one brother, Tommie Haley, Berry, AL; one brother-in-law, Thomas (Ricardo) Gillespie; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends which he loved very much, including special friend, Darlene Johnson. Mr. Billy Ray Haley was preceded in death by his father, Willie Haley; mother, Mary Haley, sisters, Lela Ervin, Neil Whitson and Mable Haley. The family would like to thank Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Center for the four years of taking care of Billy, and the staff at Ascension St. Mary’s for trying to save him. “May The Work I’ve Done Speak For Me” Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023 at New Life Ministries, 1401 Janes Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Dr. Craig Tatum will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington, Saginaw, MI 48601 Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 Friday, December 15, 2023 from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
