Mr. Billy Joe "Goat" Young

Our beloved husband, father and brother went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the age of 66 years. Billy Joe “Goat” Young was born on January 2, 1954 in Camden, Arkansas to Fronia Mae Young and William J. Johnson, Sr. Billy was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. He attended Greater Philadelphia Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Nefronzie F. Pierson, and continued his faith with House of Prayer Baptist Church, Pastor Walter McCall. Billy’s love for music and his guitar skills took him all over the world playing for different gospel groups. He was manager and lead guitarist of The New Northernaires. Billy’s favorite song that he often led at the church with the choir was, “All Night” by Lee Williams and The Spiritual QC’s. He leaves to cherish his memory , his wife, Caroline Young; eight children, Biltrese Barnes and Angelic Scroggins both of Grand Rapids, MI, Raychan Williams, Saginaw, MI, Carla (David) Gonzalez, Phoenix, AZ, Crystal (Marquet) Flowers, Atlanta, GA, Lorenzo Pierson, Tagala Pierson and Shon Pierson, all of Saginaw, MI; four sisters, Thelma Bryant, Kentwood, MI, Francis Ivery, Saginaw, MI, Lenice Johnson, Alma, MI and Dorothy Whiting , Saginaw, MI; four brothers, Vern (Joan) Johnson of Lansing, MI, Stephen (Vanessa) Johnson of Saginaw, MI, Roman (Deidra) Johnson and William (Virtrina) Johnson, both of Saginaw, MI; uncle, L C (Candice) Young of Milwaukee, WI, Oscar and Fred Young, both of Saginaw, MI; aunties, Ira (Pastor James) Lewis, Saginaw, MI, Norma McZee and Brenda Robinson, both of Defiance, OH, many other relatives and friends including special friend, Sambo. Billy was preceded in death by his loved ones, his mother and father, Fronia Mae Young and Willie J. Johnson, Sr.; brothers, J.W. Johnson, Sr., William Johnson, Jr., Leotis Johnson; sisters, Versie Johnson and granddaughter, Ameyiah Peoples. The family wishes to express special thanks to Pastor Walter McCall, Covenant Medical Center Harrison, and Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home Staff. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2020 at House of Prayer, 2323 King Road, Saginaw, Michigan. Pastor Walter McCall will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
