Ms. Blondstine Jordan

Our loving mother, Ms. Blondstine Jordan was born in Arcola, Mississippi on February 8, 1933 to Sterling Jordan and Pearl E. (Munson) Walker. She passed away in Saginaw, Michigan on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the age of 84 years. Blondstine became a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in 1945 under the leadership of Rev. William F. Rice. She was a dedicated member for 72 years and a faithful member of Usher Board #1. She worked at the Idlewild Resort for five years, the Hickory House for nine years, sold Avon for 25 years, and was employed for the U.S. Post Office for 26 years. She was the first black lady letter carrier and the second lady carrier in the City of Saginaw. She was past secretary of Bright Star #22/Sojourner Truth #40/Cordelia #48 Chapters-Order of Amaranth Blue Star CT. #5, past treasurer of Lily of Valley Ct. #2 Heroines of Jericho, past Chief Counselor of Morning Glory Council #3 Lady of Knights and Past Treasurer of Oasis CT. 5 Daughters of Sphinx. Ms. Jordan will be truly missed by her children, Joyce Jordan, Detroit, MI, Carla M. Jordan, Saginaw, MI, Darryl Jordan, Washington DC, Micheal Jordan, Milwaukee, WI, Kevin Jordan, Saginaw, MI and Brian (Earnetine) Kelley, Saginaw, MI; eleven loving grandchildren, Phalon D. Jordan, Sterling (Tina) Jordan, Dremont Davis, Marva Howell, Micheal Jordan, Jr., Tramaine Green, Kamara Bond, Carla J. Jordan, Carl Jordan, Roshaunda Kelley and Pearl Kelley; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Brooks, Detroit, MI and Amerah H. (BC) Shabazz-Bridges, Memphis, TN; one brother, Paul Walker; two aunts, Annye Roberts and Hazel Roberts both of Saginaw, MI; a special cousin, Lavion Williams; one god-daughter, Breanna Cooper; her class leaders at Bethel A.M.E. Church, Calvin and Delores Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Ms. Jordan was preceded in death by her parents, Sterling Jordan and Pearl E. Walker; one son, Sterling Jordan; one brother, Charles Griffen; two dear friends, Annie Eckels and Geraldine Cooper. The family would like to express special thanks to St. Mary’s of Michigan 6th Floor staff, Doctors Latonya Thomas and Sentnil P. Ramaiyah. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 535 Cathay Street. Pastor Dennis Laffoon will officiate. Friends may call the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
