Ms. Brenda Neal Young

Ms. Brenda Charlene Neal Young was born Saturday, July 19, 1958, in Monroe, Louisiana to Alena and David Neal, Sr. the first of four children. She quietly departed her earthly home on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the age of 66 years. She attended New Light Baptist Church in Wisner, Louisiana, before moving to Saginaw, Michigan and joining/being baptized at True Vine Baptist Church, and later Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Brenda attended Saint Stephens High School before spending time as a student at Western Michigan University. She spent most of her life living in Saginaw serving the community as an LPN nurse and in her later years as a wonderful caterer. She worked for more than 15 years at Covenant Healthcare Hospital as a food nutritionist. Beyond her passion for cooking, Brenda enjoyed gardening, traveling, and being around her family. Brenda leaves to cherish her memory one daughter and two sons: Monica Ashanette Neal, Chicago, IL; ShyEllis DeJuan Cooper, Saginaw, MI; Alan DeShaun Cooper, Owosso, MI; her granddaughter, Aniyah Alexandria Destiny Cooper, Arlington, TX; her sisters, Angela A. Neal Carrollton, TX; Alysa A. (Darrell) Rickman, Flower Mound, TX; and her brother, David Neal, Jr. Her niece, LaTayna Comer, Saginaw, MI; her nephew, Jeremiah Nealson Lewis of Carrolton, TX; and her nieces, Alaina Alysa Rickman and Dalaina Alysa Rickman of Flower Mound, TX, Nia Rickman, Atlanta, GA, Matthew Rickman, Houston, TX, and Jenis Neal, Monroe, Louisiana. Her aunt, Pearlena Wallace, West Palm Beach, FL, her cousin, Sharon King, West Palm Beach, FL, and cousin Nicole Cotton of Atlanta, GA. Uncle Louis (Lennie) Skipper and her cousins, Gregory (Phyllis) Skipper of Lansing, MI, Kimberly V. (Christopher) Skipper-Davis and Arianna Skipper Lee of Little Elm, TX. Special Cousins, Vivian Keys-Brown, Wisner, Louisiana, Joyce Neal Harrington, Gilbert, Louisiana, Patricia Dean, Houston, TX, Ann Watson, Saginaw, MI, and many, many others. Brenda also leaves a host of special friends including but not limited to: Nathan Cooper, Chicago, IL, Susan Stuart, James (Poncho) and Shirley Young, and Garry Williams all of Saginaw. Ms. Young was preceded in death by her son, Anthony; parents, David and Alena Neal, Sr. Funeral service will take at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Dr. Willie F. Casey will officiate. interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
