Mrs. Celia Mae Martin

Mrs. Celia Mae (Blackmon) Martin was born on September 2, 1947, in Itta Bena, Mississippi, to Ennix Blackmon and Lela McKinley Blackmon. She transitioned from this life on March 10, 2026, at the age of 78. At an early age, she accepted Christ, and her faith remained an important part of her life. After relocating to Saginaw, Michigan, she became a lifelong resident of the community. She graduated from Saginaw High School, Class of 1966, and later became a faithful member of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church. She married Chester Martin, with whom she shared a lasting bond of love and companionship. She retired from General Motors Corporation after many years of service. Celia will be remembered for her strength, her presence, and the time she shared with family and friends. She carried herself with confidence, enjoyed dressing well, and valued being around the people she loved. She enjoyed shopping, dining out, traveling, and playing cards, often bringing laughter and a competitive spirit to the table. Family meant everything to Celia. She stayed close to her siblings and loved being surrounded by the people she cared about. She made sure those moments were shared and remembered. Celia leaves to cherish her memory her loving sisters, Lela Wade, Gloria Blackmon, Joyce O’Daniels, and Marie Blackmon, all of Saginaw, Michigan; her dear brothers, Ennix Blackmon, Jr. of California, Spencer (Darlinane) Blackmon of Saginaw, Michigan, Roy Blackmon of Dallas, Texas, James G. Williams, Jr. of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Ronald Williams of Bay City, Michigan; her aunt, Leola McKinley Griffin; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; one goddaughter Sanidrea Madison Dean; and longtime friends, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis, Joan Walker, Francis Champion, Michele Bailey, Marilyn Smith, and her beautician, Sherry Wright. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Martin; her parents, Ennix Blackmon, Sr. and Lela McKinley Blackmon; her sister, Leona Davis; her brothers, Harvey Blackmon and Randall Williams; her brothers-in-law, John Robert Wade and Melvin O’Daniels; her special nephew, John Robert Wade, Jr.; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family extends sincere gratitude to MyMichigan Medical Center Saginaw and staff, and Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home. They also thank all who offered support, prayers, and care during this time. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607, with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Lafayette Simpson will officiate with Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
