Mr. Charlie Hoskins, Jr.

Hold it, hold it, hold it! If you’re reading this, that means I didn’t outlive you heathens like I thought I was. I was a one-of-a-kind man; out of 84 years there will never be another like me Mr. Charlie Hoskins, Jr. I was born into this world on March 6, 1940 in Greenville, Mississippi to my father, Willie B and mother, Mary Hoskins. I walked into those gates having a reunion with my parents on September 30, 2024. As a child I lived in Greenville, Mississippi and attended Greenville MS public schools. I met my beautiful wife, Shirley Toliver Hoskins. We formed a union before moving to Chicago Illinois. We lived there for 28 years, then moved to Saginaw Michigan in 1998. I specialized as a professional Mechanic. I loved working on people’s junk, just to see their faces light up when I brought their crap back to life was a pleasure. I was great with my hands; I could fix anything including building houses. I was THE JACK OF ALL TRADES. I always kept my door open, helping one or two jokers out. Helping someone with a place to stay or loaning mola, and some of y’all still owe me. I enjoyed cussing people out and telling them they were wrong, I had to tell you a piece of my mind, I cussed everyone out and kept a smile on my face while doing it. I was a man with wisdom and transparency. Even with the mess, everyone told me all they business and I told it all. With my beautiful lady we raised our five children: Willie (Williemae) Toliver, Centra Faye Hoskins, Dennis Hoskins, Keywan Toliver and Charlie; grandchildren, Tovise (Edward) Williams, Shun, Kenneth, Shirlet, Edger (Shana), Demetrius, Tamara, Kiesha, Dennis (Davona), Latatyana, Quashond, Elijah, Keywanna, Adreyah, Veronica, Keygan, TreyVion, Jayden, Keyontae, Kerrington, Keywan Jr. Great-grandchildren, Javise, Edward, Dequa, Azaria, Aryae, Amariana, Edgar Jr, Enaris, Esharyea, Tyana, Eshon, Demetrius Jr, Emil, Treyshaun, Tre’aira, Tre’onitae, Zhyair, Raheem, Jacquaris, Dennis III, Dream, A ‘Nylah, Romello, Ryan, Qu ‘Mari, Ma ’Layla, Elijah Jr, Essence, Chance ‘Lyn, Kenyae, Zion, Kenneth Jr, Kendall, Ke’Niya, Kharrington, Key’ari, Kambry, Lauren, Khemistry; special sons, Dwight Rutledge and Carl Fitts; special daughters, Cheryl Brown and Gale Harris; granddaughters, Monique Conway, Destiny, Adonis, Pooh man, New New, Tinker and Kia Wallace; special nephews, Jerry and James Hoskins. I united in heaven with my family, my wife, Shirley Hoskins, my parents Willie B. and Mary Hoskins; my son, Charlie Jun; my brothers, Joe, Willie Jr, and Louis; sisters, Melvanna, Gladys and Yvonne; grandson, Charlie ‘CeCe” Hoskins; great granddaughter, Amilleiona Barnes and my great-great-grandson, Gregory Barnes. For 84 years I lived my life, even with keeping up with the mess, I cherished every moment. I showed warmth and love, my affection ran deep. Now Let me Rest, remember me if you want too. ~ Charlie (Chief) Hoskins, Jr. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Pastor Johnie F. Edwards will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington, Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
