Ms. Cheryl Lynn Speight

Cheryl Lynn Speight departed this earthly life and entered the presence of the Lord on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the age of 63 years. Affectionately known as Lynn, she was born on April 24, 1961 to the late Ruby and Henry Speight, Sr., in Saginaw, Michigan. Lynn was educated in the Saginaw Public School System and was a proud graduate of Saginaw High School class of 1979. She worked in various customer service positions and then became a homemaker after experiencing multiple health conditions. Lynn accepted Christ at an early age while attending Tabernacle Baptist Church and served faithfully on the Young Adult Usher Board. Lynn was kind, generous, light-hearted and had an outgoing personality. To know her was to love her. She enjoyed the company of others and appreciated family and friends who spent time with her and cooked for her. She especially enjoyed Thanksgiving and Christmas and had an amazing time this past Christmas at the home of our dear family friend, Mary Broadway. Lynn’s hobbies included playing cards, word search puzzles, playing bingo, watching game shows and old TV series. Her favorite foods included smarties candies, juicy fruit gum, greens, dressing and home-made ice cream made by another dear family friend, Linda Caldwell. Lynn adored her two daughters, Akeshia Speight and Nicole Speight. In addition to her daughters, her memory will be cherished by her sisters: Gloria Lee, Annie Fuller, Denise Johnson, Debra Shields, Ida Speight, Mamie Griggs, Beverly (Herbert) Morris and Janelle McFadden; brothers: Ronald A. Johnson, Henry (Patricia) Speight, Jr. and Edward Johnson; nieces: Henrenee Brown, Catoria Johnson, Latoya Johnson, Kenyona (Anthony) Harmon-Tillman, Sherikia Johnson, Kaylan Rauch, JaLeissa Speight, Bre’Ana Speight, Janelle (Tiwa) Goodwill-Ajibewa and Chelaine Carey; nephews: Kimble Johnson, Ronald Johnson, Ronald Hopkins, Cornelius Shields, Derrick Johnson, Jason Porterfield, Sr. and Henry Speight; aunt Mavis Taylor; sister-in-law, Alma Johnson; god-sister, Frances Haulcy; many great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, including special cousins Anthony S. Hall and Ezerine Harris, and dear friends, Annie Ross and Cindy Parker. Special childhood friends, Alethia Anderson and Sheryl Steward. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Henry Speight, Sr.; sisters, Betty Johnson, Charlene Johnson-Lane and Mae Ellen Johnson; brothers, LeOtis Johnson and Jessie Johnson, Jr; brother-in-law, George Lee, Jr. The family wishes to express special thanks to Pastor Ernest Reed, Pastor Roy L. Manning, Sr. and the Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church family, Saginaw Township Square Apartments, Great Lakes PACE for their excellent attention to her care, Alonzo Betts and the staff of Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor Ernest Reed will officiate and interment will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
