Elder Clinnon Johnson, Sr.

Elder Clinnon Johnson, Sr. earned his wings on April 16, 2018 to live an everlasting life with our precious Lord at the age of 94 years. Clinnon was born on December 16, 1923 to Benjamin J. and Cora (Brown) Johnson in Washington County, Texas. Clinnon honorably served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. His journey continued by moving to Saginaw, Michigan where he became employed at General Motors, Grey Iron Plant until he retired. Mr. Johnson married Alfreda Johnson and together they shared three children, Adele Johnson, Clinnon Johnson, Jr. and Alfred Jones. Clinnon gave his life to Christ, and later became an ordained elder. He was a member of Coleman Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Hurley J. Coleman, Sr. Elder Johnson served as Sunday School Superintendent and was a dedicated teacher for many years. He was a quiet spirit but was the kind of person who would always lend a helping hand. Clinnon enjoyed exercising, playing bingo and making new friends at the BV Center. A Jack of all trades, he loved to cook, draw and create convenient gadgets. Elder Johnson was so passionate about Jesus that he conducted Bible Study at Northfield Ct. Apartments where he lived. He will be truly missed. Elder Johnson leaves to cherish his memory, three children, Clinnon Johnson, Jr. (Christie), Adele Johnson, and Alfred Jones; eight grandchildren, Etoyi (Tangela), Ebony Johnson, Alicia, Crystal Green, Clinnon Johnson III, James (Dashonka) Willis, Terence and Erica Johnson; 15 great-grandchildren; he was especially close to five great-grands including Torranda Johnson of Detroit, MI, Marquavis Johnson, his faithful church buddies, Shonteryia and James Willis and Clinnon Johnson IV, the last to carry his name; one god-daughter, Tawainna Houston; one sister, Mary E. Davis of Bay City, MI; one brother, Ross Johnson of Oakland, CA; a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his loving wife; mother and father; six sisters and four brothers. Special thanks to Louis Weems for love and support, neighbors at Northfield Apartments, the Buena Vista Center, Deacons Moore and John Turner, Minister Conway, World Outreach Campus Family, Pastor Jay for all his love and support and Veterans Medical Center. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at World Outreach Campus, 2405 Bay Road, Saginaw MI 48602. Pastor Hurley J. Coleman, Jr. will officiate with interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
