Mrs. Daisy Ann Thompson

On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, Daisy Ann McKee Thompson peacefully completed her earthly journey at the age of 87, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, grace, strength, and love. Daisy was born on October 22, 1938, in Manchester, Kentucky, to the late Robert McKee Sr. and Georgia “Lyttle” McKee. Her Kentucky upbringing remained close to her heart throughout her life. She especially loved sharing stories of her childhood—the people she knew, the experiences she had, and the memories that helped shape the remarkable woman she became. Through those stories, Daisy kept pieces of her family's history alive and passed them lovingly from one generation to the next. Daisy received her education at the historic Lincoln Institute of Kentucky in Lincoln Ridge, graduating with the Class of 1957. The confidence, dignity, and grace with which she carried herself throughout her life were evident even in her younger years. On October 18, 1959, Daisy married the love of her life, Fred Thompson. That special day marked the beginning of a beautiful marriage that would endure for nearly 67 years. Together, Fred and Daisy shared life's joys and challenges, building a relationship rooted in love, commitment, friendship, perseverance, and devotion to family. Their union was blessed with two children, Alfreda and Alfonso Roy Thompson. Daisy and Fred eventually made Saginaw, Michigan, their home, where they raised their family and established roots that would grow to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Daisy was a woman of deep and enduring faith. For more than 30 years, she was a faithful member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Saginaw, where she also served as an usher. She welcomed others with warmth and kindness, offering the same beautiful smile that became one of the things people loved most about her. Daisy was also a hardworking and dedicated woman. She devoted over 10 years of service to the City of Saginaw Housing Commission, and then spending over 20 years working for the City of Saginaw. Finally retiring after a career marked by commitment and dependability. But Daisy's life was so much greater than the places she worked or the positions she held. Her smile could light up any room she entered. Daisy had an unforgettable presence. She believed in looking her best and carried herself with natural elegance. A lifelong model in her own right, Daisy was always dressed to impress. She had a sense of style that was uniquely hers and brought class, confidence, and grace wherever she went. Daisy also knew how to enjoy life. She loved traveling the world up until she retired , bowling, spending time in the pool, laughing with family and friends, and reminiscing about her younger days in Kentucky. She enjoyed preparing Southern dishes for those Whether through a story, a meal, a smile, or simply her presence, Daisy had a way of making ordinary moments memorable. Above all else, Daisy loved her family. Her family was her pride and joy, and she was blessed to watch the family she and Fred began grow across generations. She treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took great pride in the lives and accomplishments of those who came after her. Some relationships held an especially meaningful place in Daisy's heart. She shared a close and loving bond with her special niece, Jackie, whose place in Daisy's life was uniquely her own. Daisy also shared a special relationship with her daughter-in-law, Teresa Thompson, whom Daisy held especially dear and her loving friends, Lillie Cooper and Joyce Neal who were very close. Daisy's 87 years brought tremendous joy, but they also required tremendous strength. She experienced losses that no mother or grandmother ever wishes to endure, including the passing of both of her children and members of the generations that followed them. Through life's most difficult seasons, Daisy continued forward with the strength, faith, and grace that had always defined her. After nearly 67 years of marriage, Daisy said goodbye to her beloved Fred when he passed away on June 8, 2026. Their earthly separation would last less than two months. The extraordinary life they built together—from their Kentucky beginnings to the family and home they established in Saginaw—remains a testament to a love and partnership that endured through nearly seven decades. Daisy leaves to cherish her beautiful memory her grandchildren, Jimenece Thompson, Bryce Thompson, DaVeon Thompson, and Alfonso Thompson Jr.; six great-grandchildren; sister, Willie Jean Lucas; her special niece, Jackie; her special daughter-in-law, Teresa Thompson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, longtime friends, and countless others who were blessed to know and love her. Daisy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert McKee Sr. and Georgia “Lyttle” McKee; her beloved husband, Fred Thompson; her daughter, Alfreda Thompson; her son, Alfonso Roy Thompson; her grandson, Tonay Thompson; and her great-granddaughters, Ja'Kail Thompson and Janiyah Thompson, along with other cherished relatives and loved ones who went before her. Daisy's journey began in Manchester, Kentucky, and continued in Saginaw, Michigan, but the true measure of her life cannot be found simply in dates, places, or accomplishments. It lives in the family she loved, the people she encouraged, the stories she shared, the faith she practiced, the traditions she established, and the memories she created. Family hour will take place at 10:30 a.m., with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Bethel AME Church, 535 Cathay St., Saginaw, MI 48601. Dr. Rev. Dennis Laffoon, Host and Rev. P. David. Saunders will officiate. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place from 9:00 .m. until the time of the service.
