David Thomas

Thomas, Mr. David (Daud Uqdah) Saginaw, Michigan. Funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2005 at the Wolverine State Baptist Congress, 615 S. Jefferson Ave. Imam Robert Shaheed will officiate with interment in Chapel Hill Mausoleum and Cemetery. Friends may call at the Browne's Mortuary, 441 N. Jefferson Ave. on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother found peace on Friday, April 22, 2005 at Covenant Medical Center-Harrison following a lengthy illness. He was 71 years of age. David was born in Natchez, Mississippi to the late Orline and Emma (Copeland) Thomas on November 8, 1933. He was a dedicated member of The Islamic Center in Saginaw for 47 years. He was also a UAW Local 668 member, retiring from the Grey Iron Foundry in 1997 after 51 years of service. David was an avid traveler. He married Willie B. Hoskins on November 24, 1952. She survives him. He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted and loving wife, Willie Beatrice Thomas (Wadia Uqdah); one daughter, Gladys (Eloise) Thomas Allen; two grandchildren, Daphine Allen-Bardell, Saginaw, Mich. and David Allen, Sr., Columbus, Ohio; nine great-grandchildren, Alexandrya Bardell and Cierra Bardell of Saginaw, Mich., Christopher Allen and Devin Bardell, Detroit, Mich., Brian Grier, Daleana Allen, David Allen, Jr., Sharlena Allen and their mother, LaJanis Grier Allen, also of Detroit, Mich. and Jamar Davis, Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Lela Mae (Percy) Cameron, Roxie, Miss., Lizzie (Arthur) Nelson, Amite, Louisiana and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Spencer Thomas, Sr., Ed Thomas and Elijah Thomas, Sr.; three brothers-in-law, Julius Hoskins, Ethaniel Hoskins and Sam Henderson; three sisters-in-law, Carrie Mae Hoskins, Annie Thomas and Madeline Hoskins; two nephews, David Lee Hoskins and David Earl Thomas and a grandson-in-law, Anthony Bardell. The family would like to thank the staff of Covenant-Harrison 6th Floor Unit, Virginia Rowland and the staff of the Covenant Heart Failure Clinic.
