Mrs. Deborah Jean (Hodges) Allen

Mrs. Deborah Jean (Hodges) Allen, born on March 21, 1967, in Lexington, MS, gracefully ascended to her Heavenly Father on May 10, 2024. She was the daughter of Ruby May Hodges and Sam Dixon (TC Echols). She Spent the early years of her life with her Grandparents, Ruben & Louvenia Hodges. It was during this time that she developed a very close bond with her aunts, uncles, & cousins; especially her cousin Liz as they were the two oldest and notably most spoiled grandchildren. Deborah Jean (Hodges) Allen was an exceptional woman whose life can be best defined as a life of service. Early in her career, and for many years, she served as a Certified Nursing Assistant at various hospitals and nursing homes where she was presented with numerous awards and citations. She also learned about podiatry serving for a time as a traveling assistant to a consortium of podiatrist. After moving to Saginaw from Flint in the mid- '90s she brought her talents to the V.A. Hospital where she ultimately became a medical secretary, and named employee of the month on multiple occasions. Her positive impact on staff and residents is too extensive to describe in the time allotted. Love was the foundation of Deb's personality. Everyone was special to her. She looked for and found the goodness in everyone she met. Her charm and personality captured all who came too close to her. Giving to others played in big role in Deborah's life; whatever she had, and whatever someone needed. Her time may be the biggest thing she gave. If something significant was happening in the life of a loved one, a phone call was not sufficient, she was there. It didn't matter if you lived in Michigan, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Georgia, Virginia or Illinois, or parts in between, she was there, lighting up the occasion. Deborah had one son Dr. Quincy Allen Hodges, and two step-children, Vernon Allen and Adrianne Allen, after marrying Chester Allen Jr over 25 years ago. Her grandchildren 'her babies' were most precious to her; Quincy Jr., Braxton, and Gianna Hodges, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Quincy, and wife Stacie, provided her with her own room, in their home, where she would spend weeks at a time. This allowed her to create a bond that will never be broken. Nana, is what they call her. Deb's father Sam had more children, most of whom live in the Chicago area. And finally, there was Deb's church family. She was a faithful member of Word of Faith International Ministries for over 29 years. She sang praises to God in the choir and served in administrative positions as well. She was a friend to all, young and not so young, and adopted many as nieces and nephews. She was dearly loved by her Pastors Dr. Byron and Pastor Chestermae Hayes, and she loved them back. She also leaves to cherish her memory; brothers, Chris (Keisha) Hodges of Richmond, VA, Terry Hodges of Dallas, TX, Christopher Jefferson of Joliet, IL, Torrance (Erin) Jefferson of Aurora, IL sisters; Linda Jefferson, and Jessie Jefferson of Chicago, IL, Pamela (Phons Taylor) Jenkins of Oak Park, IL, sister-in-law, Lisa Allen of Saginaw, MI, aunts Freida Clark, Florine Randle, Catherine Hodges, & Maxine (Jerome) Boyd All of Lexington, MS, Geraldine Hodges of Durant, MS, uncle Zaidelle Hodges of Flirt, MI special cousins ; Darlene Hodges, Cherisse (Tracy) Marshall Harris of Lexington, MS, Pauline (Michael) Bullard of Dacula, GA, Paulette (Devin) Powells of Flint, MI and Jacqueline Marshall of Antioch, TN; As well as A host of other dear relatives, cousins, nieces, & nephews and friends including Evangelist Jeannie Morris, Celestia Brown, Miriam Johnson & Pamela Jones; special, nephew Ron Farmer. Deborah was preceded in death by her mom, Ruby Mae Hodges, dads; TC Echols & Sam Dixon, aunts; Mildred Jean Marshall, Tina Vaughn. uncles; Melvin Hodges, Arthur Lee Marshall grandparents; Ruben & Louvenia Hodges, & cousin, Elizabeth Ann Meeks. Family hour will take place at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Word of Faith International Ministries, 500 N. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Dr. Byron C. Hayes will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
