Mr. Derrick Lee "Debo" Bowman

God has called a loving son, brother, uncle and cousin, Derrick Lee Bowman to ascend with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 14, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Derrick was affectionately known as “Debo” by all who knew him personally. He was born November 30, 1956 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Johnny Gene and Iola Bowman. Derrick graduated from Saginaw High School “Class of 1974.” After graduation, he obtained employment with General Motors, later working as a Security Guard and at Rent-A-Center all in Saginaw. He later moved to San Diego, California and continued his employment with Rent-A-Center. In 2001 Debo decided to follow his first love of his life, his beautiful mother Lola Bothell to Las Vegas, Nevada. He began as a maintenance worker for Diamond Resorts of Las Vegas, Nevada until his health failed him. During his venture in Las Vegas, Debo found his second love of his life, Jo Ann Morgan Thomas, they were married December 31, 2005. Derrick had a huge heart and a wonderful spirit, he was constantly joking and he could sing and dance. Derrick was the life of the party and everyone’s go to person and confidant. He will be truly missed by all. Derrick leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Jo Ann Bowman; mother, Iola (Charlie) Bothell; three children, Fenell (Amanda) Jones, Kimberly Glenn, both of Las Vegas, Nevada and Chereka Williams of Kalamazoo, Michigan; three step-children, Sherlonda, Carl Thomas II and Shatarra (Corey) Wright; five siblings, Brenda Lee, Dwints (Dale) Bowman, Larry (Marilyn) Bowman, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Vernon (Patricia) Bowman of Goodyear, Arizona and Michelle Bowman-Green of Las Vegas, Nevada; 24 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins including special cousins, Larry Wells and Brenda (Burley) Mays, aunts, uncles and friends including special friends, Dr. Willie Hill, Jr., Sharalee Jones-Hammond, Marilyn Glenn-Dowdell and Anthony Ray of Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Gene Bowman; grandparents, Eugene and Veryl Bowman; grandson, Carlos (CJ) Glenn; uncles, Charles E. Milton, Richard, Enuff, Bobby Bowman and Alphonso Jamerison; aunts, Mona Coleman, Georgia Mays and Annie Grigsby. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 1111 North 29th Street, Saginaw, MI. Pastor Willie Hill, Jr. will officiate.
