Ms. Dora Mae Laster

Dora Mae Laster passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the age of 89 years. She was born December 2, 1929 in Helena, Arkansas the daughter of Janie M. Mayes and Richard Gates. Dora was loved by many. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and decorating. She was very creative, always giving to those in need. Dora was a loving mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt and cousin. She was a dedicated member of Victorious Believers Ministries where she was Vice-president of the Nurses Guild and she loved going to Sunday school. Ms. Dora Mae Laster leaves to cherish her memory, her granddaughters, Catrina Williams and Traneka Stephenson; great-grandsons, Darquarius Williams, Javon Henry and Gregory Williams; great-great-grandsons, Javarion Henry and Ivan Parks; great-great-granddaughter, Heaven Watkins; nephews, Larry Young, Arthur and Carl Wells, Lawrence Brooks, Samuel, Tony, Butch, Robert and Cornell Johnson and Cecil Gillespie; nieces, Gwen Brooks Harris, Sandra Johnson, Deniece Gillespie and Justine Hamilton; niece, Dawn Genwright; step-children, Robert Parham, Robert Laster III and Donn Price; great-nieces, Callie, Keesa, Ariel, Jasmin, Katria and Marleana; great-nephews, Kwammi, Demarco, Gerald, Courtney, Demetrius and Olajuwon; a host of cousins, too many to name, other relatives and friends including best friend, Bessie Nash and special friend, Charles Bovan. Ms. Laster was preceded in death by, her parents, Janie M. Mayes and Richard Gates; daughter, Betty J. Williams; sisters, Earlean Wells, Callie Brooks and Blanch Johnson; great-grandson, Tobreon "Pootie" Williams; nephews, John Young, George wells, Robert Brooks, Jr. and Demetrius Harris; cousins, Evelina Houser, Vera Rucker, Earnestine Hill, TJ, Gus and Charlie McGowan, Lorrain and Ronald Green, Mary Smith, Andrew Joe, David Smith, Jr. and James Williams. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Supt. Christopher V. Pryor will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
