Mrs. Dorothy Louise Wrenn

Our dearest Dorothy L. Wrenn departed this earthly life for her heavenly reward on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the age of 92 years. She was born in 1927 in Brownsville, Tennessee to the union of Thomas and Alberta Bond. Mrs. Wrenn was a faithful member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. She started the Nurses Guild and remained a faithful member until her failing health prevented her to serve. Mrs. Dorothy was also a member of the Usher Board #1 and Bible Class #18. She attended many programs and encouraged others to get involved and join a ministry. She was employed at Jacobson’s in downtown Saginaw where she began her career as a gift wrapper. She knew her worth and worked hard with much determination, persistence and her wonderful personality, to become the first black saleswoman. She worked in the Baby Department throughout her career where she was loved and respected. Mrs. Wrenn retried in 1989 to help care for her mother-in-law, Mrs. Eunice Wrenn. Mrs. Dorothy Wrenn was a pillar in the Bond family, the Houghton/Jones Neighborhood and throughout the community. She would feed the hungry, care for family members, gave end of the summer parties for the kids in the neighborhood if they kept the neighborhood clean all summer. Slipped a few dollars to the needy, supported many causes, and most importantly always encouraged one to get to know God for themselves. She was also a member of the Birthday Bunch, where her cousins and friends would get together celebrating each other on their birthdays. She would let you know that she was a child of God, in all her endeavors. Her memory will be forever cherished by her son, Alonzo (Diane) Wrenn III; five grandchildren, KaToya (Marcus) Porter, Alonzo McCarroll, Ernest Payton all of Saginaw, MI, Cojunna (Frank) Sutton, Pontiac, MI and Courtney Wrenn, Kalamazoo, MI; eight great-grandchildren, Darrick, DaQuarius, Mya, India, Frank, Jr., Heaven, Ernest, Jr. and Mi’Angel; six great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Charlene Bond, Geraldine Bond and Angie Harris. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Alonzo Wrenn, Jr.; daughter Dorothy Myles; grandson, Willie Ware III; parents, Thomas and Alberta Bond; mother-in-law, Eunice Wrenn; brothers, Dave, Albert, Eddie, Raymond, Robert and John Bond; sisters, Alberta Sangster and Mildred Polk. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 535 Cathay Street, Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor Dennis Laffoon will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Sunday, from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
