Mrs. Edna Belle Drake

Edna Belle Drake went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the age of 97 years. Edna Belle was born on April 20, 1919 to Sherman and Lillian Chenault in Clay City, Kentucky. God blessed Edna Belle with four children that she dearly loved, Yvonne, Beverly, David, Jr, and Darrell. She was an Income Tax Preparer for many years. In fact, she was still preparing Income Taxes at the age of 95. She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Gregory Johnson, Sr. Edna Belle loved to shop, especially, on QVC. She also was an avid bowler, loved working cross word puzzles, she absolutely enjoyed planting flowers and working in the yard. She was known for having a green thumb. She had a passion for hosting family and friend gatherings. Edna Belle leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, David Drake, Jr. and Darrell (Juanita) Drake, Sr. both of Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, Kenneth Holmes, and Lyssa Boyd both of Los Angeles, CA, LaTrina (Larry) Waldon and LaTasha Drake of Inkster, MI, Kimara Burnside of Dallas, TX, DaVona McCray of Houston, TX, Keka Drake of Chicago, IL, Darnesha Gaskew of Indianapolis, IN, DeMona (Andrew) Long of Loganville, GA, and Darrell Drake, Jr. of Saginaw, MI; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; special niece, Shirley (Eugene) Williams; several other nieces, nephews, and a host of friends, including special friends, Willie and Dorothy Harris, Mary Woods and Janie Cork; god-son, Rev. K.T. (Linda) Draine. Edna Belle was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Yvonne Holmes and Beverly Holmes Whitaker; one brother, James Monford Chenault. The family would like to thank Pace and Bavarian Comfort Care Staff for their support in the care of our loved one. Special thanks to Rev. Gregory Johnson, Sr. and the Bethesda Baptist Church Family. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue. Pastor K.T. Draine will officiate.
