Mother El Marie Campbell

El Marie transitioned to being with the Lord on January 17, 2023, at the age of 68 years old. El Marie was born in Eudora, Arkansas on September 17, 1954 the daughter of Frank and Eliza Murphy. She was a devoted member of Faith Charity Pentecostal Gospel Church where she served as an usher and as one of the church mothers. El Marie loved to spend time with her grands and great grands, watching her court shows, baking tea cakes with Eliza, and “whooping some tail” in phase 10. El Marie was a retiree of the Saginaw Public School District where she worked as a teacher’s assistant for many years. Many will remember “Ms. Campbell or Granny” as she made lasting friendships including Ms. Robinson, and Mr. Ervin and many others as she touched so many lives throughout the years. El Marie leaves behind many memories and loved ones including one devoted daughter, Frentresa (Rodney) Smith of Saginaw, MI; two beloved sons, Dennis (LaKeisha) Murphy of Atlanta, GA, Arthur (Troina) Murphy of Indianapolis, IN; eight grandchildren, LaQuanda (Daniel), Briana, Keylonnie, DeQuavion, Denisha, all of Saginaw, MI, Shamyah of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Sanae of Bloomington IN; six great-grands, Kaycen, Emersyn, Eliza, Aubrey, Kamille, and DJ; ten brothers and sisters Willie B Mullen of Little Rock AR, Olevia Smith of Saginaw, MI, Frank (Georgia) Murphy of Dallas, GA, Verla (Jerry) Murphy of Eudora, AR, Henry (Brenda) Murphy of Des Plaines, IL, Dorothy Patterson of St Louis, MO, Lem (Kathy) Murphy of Dayton, OH, Bishop Dr. Richard Murphy of Saginaw, MI. A host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends including, Norma McLaurin, Linda Johnson, Christine Land, Omia Smith, Ardis and Gloria Thompson. El Marie was preceded in death by her mother and father Eliza and Frank; brothers, Jeremiah White and Booker T. Bell; brothers-in-law, Charles Smith Sr. and John Patterson; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Bell and niece, Terry Gentry. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Covenant Healthcare 4th and 7th floor staff, Dr. Malhotra, Oncologist, Dr. Anand, Pulmonologist, and everyone who offered kind words and condolences. Funeral service will take place 11:00 AM Friday, January 27, 2023, at Faith Charity Pentecostal Ministries, 907 Janes St., Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Pastor Ardis Thompson officiate. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM until time of service.
